So, I just fell at lunch. I mostly caught myself with my hands and knees, but I did hit my bump. My friend with me just had her baby a few months ago and so I know she gets why it freaked me out, but she thought it was probably going to be fine (which did reassure me). I’ve called the doctor and left a message, but haven’t heard yet if they want me to come in. I think that I’m feeling some movement – but I always feel something when I sit at my desk and while I want to believe it’s the baby, part of me think it’s just my bump hitting my new thunder thighs and it’s just my own freaking heartbeat that I’m feeling. Anyone else have a fall where you hit your bump?

I’m so sorry you fell! It’s good that you called your doctor, and hopefully they get back to you soon and ease your mind. I’m not a doctor, and I’m only 5 months along, so this is just my opinion… your baby is very well protected by a lot of fluid and you’d have to have a pretty significant impact to actually get to the baby. I’d be more concerned about YOUR joints since you have an excessive amount of skeletal relaxin in your body which lets your joints be a bit more ‘loosey-goosey’ than usual. I do hope everything is ok, update us when you hear back from the doc!!

I’m so sorry this happened to you!! I just read the portion of my baby book this morning on if you fall or get into an accident. It said that the baby is in water, surrounded my your placenta, protected by your abdominal muscles. It went on to say that for something to happen to the baby, it would have to be severe enough for you to have internal injuries if you weren’t pregnant.
All that to say, I completely understand your being upset and nervous and just plain freaked out. I would have called the doctor too. I’m sure they’ll tell you nothing’s wrong. Good luck, sweetie!!!

You need to go to the doctor as soon as possible. Not to alarm you – you should stay calm because the baby can be completely fine; but you need to make sure it’s not stressed in there.

The doctor asked me to come in for monitoring, so we’re here now. I’ll let you know what we hear.

Was going to say please go see your doctor. When I was pregnant last year at the same time frame I fell on my belly and felt no movement. We went to the hosptial and was monitored. Little boy was okay however 2 almost 3 weeks later he decided to come out into the world 7 weeks early. We do not know for sure if he came early because of my fall but to be safe definately good thing you went to see your doctor.

I fell in my third trimester while getting food. I had an appointment scheduled that day, so I asked to have a heartbeat check. She told me as long as there wasn’t any vaginal bleeding, both of us were fine.

Thanks ladies. The heartbeat sounds good and he/she kicked at the monitoring strips when they went on. They are going to monitor a bit more, but doctor seems to think we’re both fine.
