Awwww.... I'm sorry you fell! Those floors sound hazardous! The nice thing about being the bride is you have someone's arm to hang on to-- someone to walk you to the front and then your new hubby to walk you out! On the plus side, at least you were all able to laugh about it!
I'm sorry your FI's car was wrecked but SO glad to hear he is okay!
You poor thing! Fortunately I doubt lightening will stricke twice so I think you're safe for your wedding. One thing you can do is take your wedding shoes outside onto a brick area and scuff up the bottoms really good so they will have a little more grip. My mom used to do that for me when I was a child and had slippery church shoes.
Oh no! How happy are you that it wasn't worse though? And that every guest didnt' see it? Gosh, that's a rough day but I'm glad it worked out. If the bride and groom weren't upset and you and your FI weren't injured, all is welll :)
Well at least you guys will have always have this story to look back on and laugh at! LOL Oh my gosh, and if I were the bride, I would probably be so relieved that you fell and started laughing. I just know I will be so nervous up there with everyone looking at me, and that would totally ease the tension! hehe
Oh that stinks. But it sounds like you handled it all really well.
My advice- break in your shoes before your wedding! Make sure to really scuff up the soles or use some of those pads that are made to give you extra traction!

@snm- I did take my shoes outside and scuffed them up before hand too. I've found out since then that lots of people have fallen in that same place. They really need to re-do the floors before some really gets hurt.
@jennifer- I know this one guy came up to me at the reception and said "Everyone did such a great job, no missed lines or cues and no one fell." I said, "you're joking right?" He had no clue and didn't believe me that I fell. Thank goodness!
so...at my brothers wedding, I caught my heel on my dress (becuase I was taking exagerated steps so as to NOT trip on the door jam...) as I entered the venue after the ceremony, and as I was falling, I grabbed the first thing that I could...the wedding cake table. Thank god, the thing didnt fall- but that cake wobbled. If it had been tiered more or less stable, I would have taken out my brothers cake. The panicky look on my fiance's face as he grabbed to catch me was priceless though.
@kikD- Oh my gosh that would have stunk if you would have taken out the cake! I did lose some of the flowers in the bouqet but thank goodness I grew up in my grandmother's flowershop so I was able to put it back together and it looked good for the pictures! LOL
Well it sounds like nobody noticed, so that's a good thing! Think of it this way: you're getting your wedding mishaps out of the way before your own wedding. :-)
and this is the reason i refuse to jump the broom!! omg i can imagine the look on your face when you popped back up!! priceless!! glad that your fi is okay and bummer about it being a classic car.
@cheerful- That's exact what my FI said. He was like well maybe now you won't fall at our wedding!
@crebre80- I know I looked up at the other BMs and mouthed OMG! They were like we would have yelled out something much worse! I did redeem myself by an awesome Toast!
Sorry about the fall and the car, vintage, but it sounds like you made a graceful recovery! No torn dress or injury and no one noticed. Thankfully, your FI was not hurt because it doesn't take much in a rear-end collission to get whiplash.
Sounds like you've gotten all the spills out of the way now so your wedding will be perfect!

So I was MOH this weekend in my friends wedding. The church had polished concrete floors that went down the asile and along the altar. I made it down the asile no problems. Stood there for the first part of the ceremony. Then when they were asked to kneel on the altar I went to straighten out her train and veil for pretty pictures. I had her flowers and mine in my left hand. I stood up and turned to walk back to the rest of the girls and slipped and fell! I fell forward so I crushed the flowers. I popped right up and took my place next to the other girls. We were laughing so hard that we were crying. Most of the guests didn't see because I was blocked by the first row pews. Some guests thought I was still straighting her dress.
Then as if it couldn't get any better. My FI was driving from the ceremony to the reception and got rear-ended at a red light! I was riding with the bridal party in the shuttle. I didn't have my cell phone because I didn't want to worry with keeping up with it during the ceremony. So he missed half of the reception with me wondering where he was and also needing some much needed self-esteem props. He is okay but the car will need some work. We don't drive that car but once a month because it is a classic. So that makes it even more sickening to us. But I'm just thankful we are okay.
The bride wasn't upset with me about falling. She said she heard a thud and looked back and saw me doing the splits. She said then she was worried about falling too. The photographer also fell before the ceremony when guests were entering. She wasn't hurt either. I think the church needs to really re-think those polished concrete floors!
PS. This is my second time to fall in a wedding ceremony so now I'm terrified of doing it mine!
