So, quite unexpectedly, I said yes to the dress!
I posted recently about my major dress shopping anxiety. I am incredibly insecure about my body (a whole seperate issue that I’m working on!) and I had a panic attack anytime I thought about buying a dress.
I was planning to wait to go looking for a few months, because I was honestly putting the whole thing off. My mom suggested that she and I go to David’s Bridal so I could try on a bunch of styles and get a better idea what would work for me and hopefully lessen the anxiety a bit.
Well… surprise, surprise, I ended up putting a dress on that I absolutely fell in love with. I cried because I couldn’t believe I actually felt beautiful in a dress.
So… here’s my dress – White by Vera Wang VW351065. The only change I’m making is changing the neckline to a sweetheart 🙂
I’m trying to decide whether or not I should get a sparkly belt. I’m not a very glitzy person and tend to lean toward very simple design, so I didn’t even think to get an accent belt until today. Does it look okay alone, or would a belt make it more special? Also – does anyone have suggestions for a hairpiece?
I’m so excited I found a dress I feel good in!

Oooo love the dress!! I think a pretty floral sash would go great with it!

You could go either way with the belt, if you want a bit of glitz the go for it but I think its simple yet stunning without.

@MsMonkey: You look like what I dreamed a bride would look like when I was a girl- beautiful!
You certainly could add a sash, but if I were the bride I would find a statement necklace to focus attention on my face. With your beautiful hair, you will make a stunning bride.

Congratulations! What a beautiful dress! It would look spectacular with a belt, maybe something like this?

It would be great either way, but you said you’re not a sparkly/glitzy person, so I would say no. But, if you feel like this is a day to be more sparkly and glitzy than usual, go for it. It’s going to look brilliant, regardless.

I love that dress, I was obsessed with it for a while before I decided against ball gown but it looks beautiful on you!
I say go with a crystal sash..idk I just feel like it’s a little too simple without one

It’s going to be gorgeous either way! I vote rhinestone sash!

Don’t alter the neckline! It looks so dramatic straight across! And sweetheart is SO PLAYED RIGHT NOW!

I vote for a rhinestone sash 🙂

Wow, you look amazing! Sad to hear you aren’t feeling confident when you look this beautiful in a dress!!!
I say yes to a blingy sash :).

Thank you so much for the replies 🙂 I was so pleased to feel beautiful, I was really so anxious about dressing shopping. I didn’t want to take it off, haha! I think I am going to look around and see if I can find a sash/belt that is “me.” I think if I can find one that’s more simple then I will love the addition..

How about a subtle color non-bling sash. I had a white dress and a light pink solid sash. Even something like this might be nice w/o any bing.
I didn’t want to post my wedding pics and thread jack so here’s a cropped pic of the light pink sash. I also changed mine to a sweetheart neckline.
I rarely like ballgowns but LOVE that dress on you!
