under my arm where my breast meets my armpit. It was sore yesterday and I thought it was my clothing rubbing my skin but last night I was feeling around that area and felt a lump, hard, the size of a pea.
I’ve been told that my breasts are fibrous so I’m praying that’s all it is. But naturally my mind heads for the worst situation.
I’m waiting for my appt with my gyno this morning at 10:45 so my mind is racing again.
Anyone else experience this?

My mom did ..she never told any of us, but once she got checked they said it was nothing and it went away..she hasn’t had any problems since…so don’t worry sometimes there are lumps and they simply go away…have faith..and just relax it is scary but you don’t know anything yet

I haven’t personally but my good friend did. She was freaked out too but they did an ultrasound of her breast tissue and it was nothing. I would be totally freaking out too so I won’t tell you not to do that… but do keep in mind that MOST lumps are absolutely nothing to be worried about and that even if the absolute worst case scenario were true, the survival rate is really high now. Congrats to you on going to get it checked out ASAP though! A lot of people would be too scared but it will be so great to just get it taken care off and off your mind. *hugs*

I haven’t had a personal experience like that. I’ve also had a friend that did. They went as far as doing a biopsy, she was fine. It wasn’t anything serious. I can imagine how freaked out you are. I’m glad you’re going to the doctor right away. Please keep us posted.

Actually I have had that before. Apparently there is a gland around the armpit area, and mine was just swollen. It is probably nothing, but go to your doctor just for peace of mind!

(((hugs))) it sounds like you’re doing what you can – getting into the doctor ASAP. It’s likely not a big deal, but you’ll know that for sure soon.

i had a tenderness issue in the area that your describing and it was a swollen lymph node… i also have had small cysts found everywhere on my body from the nape of my neck to around my ovaries, etc. thankfully it wasn’t anything serious… and you’re already doing the number one thing by going to the doctor. i’m praying it’s nothing serious… let us know how it goes!

Thanks Bees. Hopefully it’s nothing at all and I will definitely keep you posted.

My sister gets something like this all the time. They are cysts and typically go away. She has had a few biopsied and they came back fine. I’m praying for the best! Give us an update when you know something.

So sorry that you are going through this! I will be thinking of you today. Hope everything is OK!
I also have fibrous breast tissue and have had probably 4 or 5 cysts in my breasts. I have always gone in for an ultrasound and they have determined that they are just cysts. The ones I had when I was a teenager were drained with a needle by the dr. A really quick, painless procedure. The one I had last year, they determined it was a cyst, and decided to do nothing more with it.
Let us know how the dr appt goes!

Yes, def. go see your doctor, but it’s probably just a cyst. I know that depending on where you are in your cycle, you can develop little cysts.. some people get them every month! I couldn’t imagine!
They will probably send you for an ultrasound – I’ve had one, with an awkward male doctor.. I was okay with it, figuring he’d seen lots of breasts, but he was uncomfortable – which made the experience uncomfortable… but in general it’s easy.
Because of my mom’s breast cancer, I am already geting mammograms at 31 – but the tissue is really too dense to see much. I’m sure you will end up with the ultrasound because of that fact – but I’m sure you will be just fine!
Best of luck.

The fact that it’s sore is probably good news. The sore ones are usually benign. It’s the non-painful ones that you have to worry about, usually.
At any rate, try not to panic and you’re doing the right thing by going to the doctor ASAP. Keep us posted and good luck.

I’m sure it’s fine, but I’m glad you are going to the dr. I can’t wait to hear a very happy and positive update from you!!! Until then, you’re in my thoughts.

as a fellow woman with fibrous breast tissue, I can tell you my gyno told me that women with more fibrous tissue tend to develop benign cysts more frequently because of the nature of the tissue. I get them pretty regularly now, but I remember the first time I got one it really freaked me out. Turned out to be nothing though and a hot compress on it twice a day helped it drain naturally. I hope yours turns out to be as inconsequential a thing as mine!

(((HUGS))) I know this is scary, but the odds are that it’s nothing! I’ve had several little scares like this, and they have turned out to either be fibrous areas, or calcium deposits. The fibrous ones tend not to move, but the calcium deposits you can move with your fingers. I tend to get extra nervous (and so does FI), because my aunt had breast cancer and my Mom is currently battling it…so my odds are higher than the average bear, if you know what I mean. But you just take it one lump at a time, and you’re being smart and going to the doctor! It’s going to be okay!!
