Yes! I hate them. They're all over in our apartments up here, especially in the winter. And they're so dang fast, too! I think they like to bite clothes, so be sure to keep clothes baskets up off the floor. Dang little buggers. Smack them when you see them! Not sure how to keep them away though. :-/

I found one from time to time in my old apartment. I always killed it and then wouldn't see another for a long time. Try not to worry too much about them. They are harmless. The worst thing they can do is eat your stuff.

@indibee: Shewww!!! I am soooo freaked out! :( I wasn't at first. Then I told my mom what it looked like & she told me what it was. I googled it & found out that people's homes have been infested with these things & that the females lay up to 50 eggs!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :( My husband & I have lived in our apartment since March 2010 & NEVER seen one of these before. I don't know where it came from but I sure hope there isn't anymore.

@MrsRuby: Our landlord will actually pay for one for us if we ask. If I see more I def will! My mom said she has found a few in the many years she has lived in her house (since I was a little girl) & only found one at a time each time. So I am HOPING that is what this is!!!!!!!!

why?  not saying creepy crawlies are fun but its not the end of the world and as long as your home isnt a pig sty it could be a visitor from a neighbour - you said it was only one

although we have our house sprayed we generally co-exist with our critters, i regularly have a converstation with the huntsman spider that lives in the laundry room, reminding him he has to stay in the laundry or he will be shown the door

@eloping: I am freaking out because I don't like bugs, the females lay up to 50 eggs at one time & I don't want an infestation. :/

@Sweet.Sugar.Rose: Like @kaylee26: & @eloping: said, they're really not horrid. I mean, yeah, they're icky just because they're there, but really, they're like spiders. And all the pages I've read as well say that they'll just lay all these eggs, but I've NEVER seen more than 1 at a time, and only every once in a while, and never anywhere other than my floor. No infestation, just a bit of grumbling under my breath once or twice a month when I see a little bugger. I think they come up from the pipes under the apartment (campus uses steam heat, so there's obviously lots of moisture all over). Our elementary school would get one in the sink every once in a while.

I equate them to spiders (minus my spider phobia, but I mean that they're just a house pest). Don't like them, but they're there. Then again, I grew up out on the farm where we'd have to throw shoes at mice every once in a while....so little harmless bugs don't really creep me out much.

Don't worry! I found one in our old apartment once... we had the exterminator come (paid for by the apt complex) and never saw any more for the rest of the time we lived there (almost a year). I found one in our house when we first moved in (the house had been empty for a bit before we moved in, so there were some bugs.. ech!), but I cleaned everything really well and my husband sprayed the house for bugs and we haven't seen any since (5ish months).

It's probably just a one-time thing! Although, gross that it was in the bathtub of all places! Both times I found one they were just in a corner on the tile floor by the baseboard.

@indibee: Thanks for letting me know this! This is exactly what my mom said. She said she has found a few over the years & it only be one, just like a spider. Then that's that.

I think I can rest easier now! :-)

@Sweet.Sugar.Rose: I forgot to mention in my previous post that all the ones I ever found were in my bathroom. According to wikipedia, they like moisture, and the bathroom is likely to be quite moist. This should explain why you found it in your bathtub. It should hopefully also make you feel safer in the rest of your house.

In regards to the infestation worry, like I said earlier, every time I found one I would kill it and that would be the last one I saw for a long time. Just because you see one does not mean that you are infested.

i guess im weird, im more freaked out by people that have pets in their beds/on the furniture than creepy crawlies in the house but glad to hear its just the one - im guessing hes a visitor that came through a window or up a pipe and then got stuck in the tub

@Lemma: Thanks a bunch! When I first seen it I killed it then went on like nothing happened. Hours past & I told my mom what it looked like over the phone. She said oh that was just a silverfish bug. So I googled it & read things & THAT is what freaked me out. haha But the bees have came to the rescue again! :-)

Eww!! Gross. I am no help, but I would scream. A month or so ago we found a wolf spider on the floor. They are the spiders that carry their babies on their back. My husband tried to kill the spider and the babies all fell off. It was disgusting. Oh, and now we have gnats flying out of the stovetop vent...wtf is going on?!!!

@eloping: I wouldn't say you are weird at all! Different strokes for different folks. My fur babies sleep with me. :P But like I said above, it didn't freak me out at FIRST. Then I googled it & read about it 3 or so hours after I found it. I kept looking at pictures & reading about infestations in peoples homes. THAT creeped me out! :/ But I will rest easy now. :-)
