Today was my first ever time trying on dresses. I had an early appointment to view sample sale items at my local boutique and was very excited. They were super nice and allowed me and my friend to browse the dresses and pick ones I wanted to try on. I picked 4 that were about my size and then saw one that was in the sale rack but didn’t have the special sticker on it. I asked and the sales girl said that it was indeed part of the sale, so I added that one in too.
The first dress I tried on was a dull satin fit-and-flare with a corset back in a light ivory. I liked it a lot and it really flattered my figure especially when she put a belt on it for me. Definitely a contender.
Next, I tried on the dress I had asked about. It was a Pronovias ballgown with a lacy sweetheart bodice and huge flowing tulle skirt with train. It zipped up perfectly. It has a built-in corset strap. I saw myself in the mirror and I just cried. I found my dress. She added a belt and veil and I was done for.
I did try on 3 more dresses just to be sure. The first one I walked out and turned right back around as soon as I saw myself, and the other two just….didn’t make my heart flutter. I knew that the Pronovias was my dress. Then I asked the price…..regularly it was $2500…sale price out the door with a built-in crinoline?? $915!! YES PLEASE!
So without further ado, here is my dress, the Pronovias Ocelada Pro! It also comes with a detachable, button-in illusion neckline that is just amazing (not shown). It is in perfect condition for a sample – no stain, smears, sweat stains. The only thing wrong with it is that ONE (literally, ONE) of the little beads in the middle of one of the lace flowers is loose. They will fix that LOL.
I do plan to lose weight before the wedding (1 year) but unless I lose like 30 lbs, I will be fine. Even if I have to get slight alterations, I’m still under budget! ($2k for dress, alt, accessories and veil).
EDIT: JUST realized my dress is from the 2014 Glamour collection…no idea why it was on sample sale but holy crap, my deal just got better!
