That is a really pretty dress but it is a pretty popular style so you may be able to find something similar at a better price.  What about looking online for a pre-owned dress?

Aw, I’m sorry!  I can imagine how disappointing that was!  But you’re right, you have a lot of time so you’ll find something 🙂

Don’t give up!  You have plenty of time and I agree that you could probably find a similar style.  There are a lot of dresses out there!  Since you know the style is there any way you can find it on the internet for cheaper?  I am not familiar with buying dresses online but lots of people do. When I went dress shopping the first thing I told them was my budget.  I did not want dresses pulled that were out of my budget.

You MUST check out Netbride!  There are other online wedding gown companies you could use, but I have had a great experience with them.

I’m a Canadian girl too, and for some reason it seems like the mark-up up here is crazy.  My dress was $2100 CAD in the salon, plus taxes.  I ordered my dress from Netbride at $900 USD!  That’s a huge difference.  With exchange, duties, and tax (just GST for tax because I’m from Alberta) it probably came out to around $1300 CAD.  I got the dress in 3 months and it looked great.

These are not knock-offs…. actually, check out the forum on ‘Weddingbells’ and there’s a whole long post with testimonials about Netbride.

Good luck with whatever you decide to do!

Since you have plenty of time, and there will be undoubtedly be other dresses that is going to pique your fancy, I am sure that you will find something you love, and not have to cut more people out of the wedding. The preowned route would be an option, and of course just saving up some extra money could be an option for you too.

Good luck!

I just have to chime in to second NETBRIDE!!!!  I got my dress for about 20% less than I was quoted in a b&m store, it arrived a month ahead of the ETA.  ALSO they gave me $150 credit towards accessories so instead of having to try and make my cathedral mantilla veil (since I can’t afford the $300+ I saw in all the stores), I was able to get a GORGEOUS perfect one all said & done wiith their discounted rate and the store credit for…$40!!!

If you don’t mind me asking, how much was it? and what is your budget?  As caszoz mentioned this is a fairly popular style I am sure you can find something similar within your price range.  Don’t give up.  You still have time to look around more before ordering.

Maggie sottero has quite a few gowns like that style and her’s are around $1,000 if I am not mistaken.

That was mine until I found out alterations can be around 300 easily.

I thought it was silly to pay much for a dress until I tried on Ambrosia by Maggie Sottero. I am now paying 1700 + taxes and alterations. 😐

Might end up with Sabelle instead. Will find out this Sunday.
