I went in to a local bridal shop to see if their bridesmaids dresses actually matched what I’ve been thinking of. I’d had an awful and stressful week at work, and decided that if they had the time I’d try on some bridal gowns as well. Luckily on a Monday afternoon, I was one of two customers in the shop, and the owner herself helped me.
After describing our first dress shopping experience, where I felt very led by both the consultant and my maids, she had me walk through the racks myself. I pulled a number og gowns similar to what I’d been looking at. Fit and flare, tulle, netting or organza, and put them on a hanger to try on. I also grabbed a fun number with a removable skirt, which my Maid/Matron of Honor and I had been giggling about at our first round of dress shopping.
Well, the joke was on me. I tried on all of the dresses similar to the style I’d been looking at, and they all felt too contemporary, too trendy. Then, I put on this:
I went home, called my Maid/Matron of Honor, she left work early to meet me at the bridal shop. Tried it on again, and we realized that this was it. Called my mom (who is currently on vacation in Alaska) and she said “Don’t be stupid, if it is the dress, it is the dress. Buy it.”
Oh, and the best part? It is a Romona Keveza. Normally runs for $3,000+. But, they’re clearing out some stock for the fall lines, and it was on sale this week only. For $500. My mom’s don’t be stupid comment makes more sense, right?
Oh, and I said the best part? Except there’s another best part.
