Asking her if she would mind going out with him last week to look at RINGS for me!
He has epilepsy, so he can’t drive and has limited time to go places without me as our work schedules are nearly always the same.
We’ve been talking about buying a ring for forever, but something always seems to come up with money issues. I know for a fact that they didn’t go shopping last week, because he forgot the rent was due and had exactly nothing left from his paycheck after we paid.
BUT, I’ve promised myself to stop looking at his phone and to keep my eyes away from our joint savings account until after the proposal.
I don’t know why, but seeing that text from him made it so much more real!
I can’t wait 🙂

jillbean1217: congrats! my fi asked my sister for help and that was a nice touch so I know how you must have felt when you read it. 🙂

Yay!!! So exciting! The anticipation is intense hahha. I was in a similar situation.
My FI didn’t get any help, but he searched for a long time and tried really hard. Even took his full box extended cab truck with our dog into DT Toronto into the diamond district to find the perfect diamond for the ring he had made for me. 🙂

That’s so exciting! I hope it happens for you soon!

I wouldn’t get your hopes up yet. If he has to live paycheck to paycheck then I would guide him into a savings plan first, even if you want a really inexpensive ring it’ll be good to have a nice start to your engagement/marriage knowing he is financially stable.

This was so much more pleasant a post than I expected when I read your title!
Sounds very promising! Woo hoo!

peaceoutshannon: Thanks! I’m super excited.
Susana888: I thought it was really sweet that he asked my BFF to go with him. I know part of it is necessity, but I made sure I showed her a few rings I like in conversation this week, just so that she has an idea of what I’m looking for, even though neither of them know I know!
winterwoodlandbride15: He’s been so good. We went looking a few times, and he knew more about what I wanted than I did. “She likes cathedral filigrees, but the diamond can’t be too high, and she likes the European shank, but that’s not a total requirement.” and I’m all like o.O, you pay that much attention to that, but you can’t pick up your clothes from the bathroom when I ask?!
Squirrelz15: Me freaking too!
BellaDee: We’ve actually been saving since February. He was just hoping to have the number he has in mind with his last paycheck.
Olivepepper: I know…I’m sneaky like that 😉

jillbean1217: ok well the way you worded it would seem as though you haven’t saved enough. You said rent was due and he had no money in his paycheck. So from an outsider it would seem as though he needed more time.
In most cases you don’t need the full amount right away anyway.

BellaDee: He’ll pay all up front, the ring I want is probably going to be from a local jeweler and more likely than not from an estate sale since we want to buy a house in the next few months (we already live together)…I just couldn’t swallow spending what would amount to a good portion of a down payment on a ring. We do alright, but we’re not rolling in money.
