I want a Shiba Inu! They are good with kids, don't bark, don't shed a ton (except in the spring) and are small enough to live in our apartment! Oh and they are fluffy and so darn cute! Now just to get Mr. Hedgie to let me have one...

    They're adorable :) I love their tails.

I have heard, however, that they are extremly stubborn and can be very difficult to train.  I'm sure this can be the case with any dog though!

    Love love love Shiba inu's.

Socialize them early though because they tend to be anti-social.

Infact... I found this sweet baby!!! Not as young as I really want (I REALLY want a puppy) but still young and I am all up for adoptions! Plus, she is a lot cheaper and includes getting her shots and spay which I am all about. So I can use that extra money to get her all sorts of good dog stuff!

Great choice! Shiba Inu is what my fiance wants as his next dog. (Which hopefully won't be for a long time! He doesn't want another until after his current dog passes away.)

I adopted a Shiba Inu. He is in his shedding stage right now, and is shedding a TON!

He is very well trained and behaved, and does not really seem stubborn.

However, he is very anti-social and does not like other dogs. He sometimes does not like other people!

He has bonded very closely with hubby and I. He sort of seems like a child.

He is literally the cutest dog I have ever seen, and he is the perfect size (22 lbs).

    his name is kobi!

I want one as well.  One of my friends adopted a Shiba and he's the most ornery, stubborn little guy but he's still very sweet and loyal.

Lambeau - our male. he is so incredibly stinkin loyal it cracks us up. he was trained super fast. hes always been a big baby. loves loves loves people. is so good with kids. he is now 10 months old and still such a big baby. loves to be near mom and dad. loooves to play with his blanket and lucy. we babysit our friends son (8 months) and lambeau has to be near him at all times. sniffing him on the floor, laying at the end of the boys blanket, rolling balls over to the boy. hes never barked. he has the "shiba scream" and talks to us a lot. he even says "i love you!"

Lucy - our girl. she is a little stinker. she is now 7 months old. she has such a funny "i dont care because im cute" personality. she will bark and back up with some people like "lets play lets play" and crouches down and runs in a circle. she plays with lambeau all day long. shes a snuggler, but only when she wants to be. shes more stubborn, that is for sure. but she trained pretty quick! lambeau was trained faster.. not sure if its because hes a boy or overall just less stubborn than lucy.

both the puppies let us do ANYTHING to them. trim their nails, pull their tail, blow in their faces, roll them around, lay on them, trap them in between in our legs or blankets. we took lambeau to puppy classes - but not lucy. and both of them were socialized with kids right away. both our puppies are bell trained, and when they need to go outside they ring two bells that we have hanging next to our door. we started it with lambeau at about 12 weeks old and with lucy right away at 8 weeks old - it only took them about two weeks to learn!
