Bees, I went to try on dresses for the first time yesterday! I went with my mum and nan to two shops, and then to afternoon tea at the reception venue.
I tried on the dress I really wanted first: Mori Lee 1851. It didn’t live up to my expectations so was relegated back to the rack. After trying nearly every style and cut, we quickly worked out I felt most comfortable in the natural waist, full skirted dresses (duh I am a princess 😛 ).
Blah blah, long story short, I left the first shop feeling really sad and that it was much harder work than I expected.
We went on to the second shop and it was so so different. The ladies were lovely and friendly, they gave me some disks to put over the dress hangers I wanted to try on, then they dressed me up.
I tried on 3 ball gowns, then a ‘slinky’ which I didn’t feel comfortable in – I didn’t feel like me! So we ended up playing with dresses 1, 2, and 3, with lace and crystal jackets and veils and bits. We were modifying them all, and I ended up back with the first dress I tried on there.
With no adaptations, just the beautiful dress, a three tier veil and a headress. I felt so beautiful and natural. When I was all accessorised I looked in the mirror and burst into tears! I know it’s a clique here, but I did! For the first time, I saw myself stood next to Fiance in the church and it felt so real that we were going to get married!
My nan had cried when I put it on the first time – it brought back the thought that Grandad won’t be there 🙁
Mum managed to not cry, not to my knowledge anyway!
Ok, rambling bee, shut up now.
Anyway, the dress is Maggie Sottero ‘Zaydana’. The stock pictures do NOT do it justice, it’s so delicate and feminine and detailed.
