Yea I definitely think its weird that she even felt the need to ask that question. She’s probably not amused at the idea of standing out in the cold, honestly 😛 I wouldn’t pursue her because what if she rushes your ceremony because she doesn’t want to be outside? If she has a problem with outdoor weddings she should say so on her website! lol

I always try to give people the benefit of the doubt. Perhaps she was trying to make conversation and open the door to learning more about you and your fiance. Perhaps she doesn’t know that you do know it will be a little chilly. It’s really hard to tell the tone people intend just by reading text.

Well….if she lives in RI and knows how the weather is, that’s why…I swear i’m not trying to be rude, either, but I live in Boston, and March is generally close to our #1 most miserable weather month. Do you have a backup plan in case it’s snowing/sleeting/downpouring? It’s generally hovering around freezing and there are often still snow drifts and high winds that time of year. It’s still winter. If you’re lucky…it’ll be in the 40’s. And probably raining. I don’t think it’s that she’s rude, I think it’s really that the weather in New England is *that bad* that time of the year.

I completely agree that her response was unproffessional.

However, New Englanders kinda have a reputation for being pretty blunt sometimes and frankly, having an outdoor ceremony in March is probably something she’s never done before.

It’s entirely your choice and she should be trying to earn your business, but she’s probably trying to feel you out to see if you wanted a few words or a long ceremony.

It does seem rude, but I can kind of see where she’s coming from. I lived in RI for a while and it is freaking COLD in March. I would be more worried about snow then rain at that time of year. I wouldn’t want to be doing an outside evening ceremony near the water either. 😉

But still…. she didn’t need to word it that way.

This past March, RI had record flooding- and I mean massive flooding. An entire mall was flooded (and just reopened this week).

The thing with March is that it is right in the “slush” zone. It could be a blizzard or it could be rain. Normally, it’s cold, wet, windy, damp. There are no flowers out, the trees do not have leaves and it’s a coin flip on the daily weather.

I don’t mean to be rude or give you a bad impression of RI in March, but it’s very different than March in SC.
