Laughing just wanted to show everyone how my hair turned out. i realized during my hair trial that i needed to perm my hair because my super stick straight hair wouldn't hold any curls for longer than 30 mins.

    not bad right?

So you got more of a body wave than a super tight curl perm.  It looks great!  My hair wont keep a curl worth anything, so I understand your pain.

So, it looks like it is just curled, but it's perm (until it grows out-ish) like that now?

yep it just looks curled but all i did was twirl it with my fingers, scrunch it, and let it air dry. of course twirling your hair while blow drying will take much less time.

I LOVE it. It looks great because it's not super-curly and just looks like you used a curling iron on it.

Every time I hear someone say "perm" I think NOOOOOO because I have naturally curly hair and would love to have straight hair. I have to go over my 'spiral' curls with a curling iron to make it look like your 'perm' :)

    Yours looks really good though!

I love it!!  I have stick straight hair to and its hard to hold curls!  I didn't know that you can get that done as a perm!  Curling my hair whenever I go out gets so annoying!  I wouldn't mind getting that done...is it referred to as a body wave?

Wow that's awesome!  I wish I could have that done to my hair!  Did you get a body wave done?  When I saw the title I was thinking, whoa honey!  But it looks so natural.

What type of hair do you have? I have wanted to get a body perm for so long now, but i'm terrified at the same time. I have never colored or done anything drastic to my hair. It's always pin straight and unless I coat it with hairspray... :( The last time I went to get my hair cut she said my hair type wouldn't hold a perm... I guess I'm just too afraid to waste the money.

How exactly is this done? Are they big rollers or something? Every perm i've ever got are usted with small rods and rolled all the way up to my scalp. Can you explain this a little?

Thanks everyone. Mine was called the setting perm. However, different salons call it different names for some reason.

Basically they put your hair in rollers midway and attach those curlers to a heating device that make you look like Medusa. The rest is pretty much the same as a regular perm.

Haha, I was reading the post above that said "my hair is/was so straight it wouldn't even hold a body wave" Mine too!!! I had one of those super curly perms in high school (which was only 7 years ago) because it was so much easier to deal with. I keep talking to hubs about getting one and I keep getting told NO. :( I'd love to just wake up and throw some soft gel in my hair and go in the morning!

I like your hair, looks great!

I think it's supposed to last 4-6 months but it'll just slowly fade into a more natural wave. I got it done in Korea for about $90 (which included 3 ampules of hair protecting treatment )but I've had it done twice in Los Angeles for about $130-$150 without tip.
