This is gorgeous on you. I'm not a big fan of pricessy pouffy dresses either but the flow on this one is gorgeous, and because it doesn't flare out until lower down, you don't get the same fullness as a ballgown. It's really beautiful.

i love your story because i had such a similar experience. i was set on a non-poufy, no train, simple dress for the beach. i thought i had found my dream dress in Nicole Miller. never thought i would get to go to a Nicole miller store, then all of a sudden got an interview in NYC, i went with him, ran straight to nicole miller to try on my dress i was dreaming of - total FAIL! it was hideous. anyway, much longer story short, i ended up maggie sottero jenna (poufy, princess-y, train, all the works). so i totally get you!
@PurpleUnicorn: I feel like we comment on each other's posts a lot? maybe thats just me? Anyway, It was definitely a crazy feeling to get poof! I was so amazed at how giddy I got! Jenna is an awesome choice! definitely some poof!

@Ranoos227: They actually had me try on a super long veil with little bits of lace on it! it was beautiful but waaay too expesnive. I'm not really sure if I want a veil. If I do it'll come out from under my updo for sure!

My wedding is July 2, 2011 and I think Im may be past the point of ordering it myself. I would be a size 4 or 6 I think, and I am 5'7.
It would be a good way to make some of the cost back!

I had a very similar experience. I went into the store with the intention of only trying on trumpet dresses. That wasnt until the bridal consultant asked me to try on a dress, that she thought I would like. I hesitated because it was $300 over my budget and when I saw it in the hanger it was everything I wasnt looking for (it had lace and wasn't a trumpet dress). But when I put it on, I immediately smiled and knew it was the ONE. At that moment I didnt care about going over budget cuz I had to have the dress
@astrangeharris: Yay! Just saw this LOL.... I never get on here... I want to post pics on here but I'm afraid my h2b will find me hehehehe. I've gotten my veil and shoes and earrings-- now I need to get the dress altered--- but need to slim down. The lady ordered me a 10 but it needs to be taken down to an 8. Time to tone the arms!! I've got two months! YIKES!!
Isnt it crazy how we go in with a mindset on something and we totally get what we didnt expect!
I did not want Tafetta! My consultant urged me to try on HER pick for me! It was the ONE! =) Congrats its gorgeous!

You may have already seen this post in beehive, Because I am wedding bee challenged. Anyway, yesterday my mom took me wedding dress shopping. I was dead set on Ella Bridals 5515. I knew it would be my dress. I got there, and they already had it hanging in my fitting room. I try it on, and...TOTAL DUD. This dress was a hot mess on me. It looked cheap, something about the white of the dress made me look sick. I looked wider than I am. It was the weirdest thing ever. I kept thinking "How is this not amazing, I don't even like this dress anymore. Its not even a maybe."
So, she asked me if I wanted to try on something else. I said sure, just NOT anything poofy. We go through several more dresses. I keep liking them, just not loving them. She looks at me and says, "I have one that I think will be amazing on you, will you try it?" I agree.
She brings in a giant monster of a dress. On the hanger, I can appreciate it, lace, beads, giant mass of tulle. Yep, thats a wedding dress. And I didn't want to try it on. I didn't want to be a big poofy princess. I tell her so. She persists. I give her an annoyed look. I get in the diving position so she can slip it over my head.
I am amazed. I seriously was looking down at the dress while she clamped me into it and was freaking out. I loved it. I turned to the mirror when she was done, TOTALLY THE ONE. I burst out of the dressing room and was like "Mom this is it." start walking to all the different mirrors. "THIS IS IT!!!!!" I seriously paraded around in it for a good 15 minutes. AMAZING!
