Help! I’m getting married in 3 weeks and I can’t stand my dress!
I have before and after pictures as to what it looked like before and what it looks like now (not very good quality sorry!). I did ask that the seamstress take off the side detail to make it more staight because I was going for more of a straight look across. I feel like my dress is a big poofy and ruffled mess and lost it’s shape! Any suggestions?

Also this was what I was going for when we took out the side detail:

to be honest I had to look at it a few times before realizing the differences.
I think it looks great! I like it better now (on the right… right?) than with the teensy layers on the left at the angle.

Birdiebaby4: I think it is absolutely gorgeous! I love the belt with it and I love the fit and flaire look. Its really flattering!!

Birdiebaby4: I actually prefer the assymetrical hemline. What about having some of the ruffles removed so it’s less voluminous?
I think it looks good as is TBH. No one is going to be looking at the skirt. They will be looking at your bombshell figure!

I have to agree i do really like it, but I can tell you don’t, and that’s what’s important. I can see how it is poofier then in the before pictures. Have you added any extra material on it or had it steamed recently?

I prefer the before as well, the after isn’t bad just very common

Birdiebaby4: i love it! i think it is beautiful. I actually do prefer the after pictures better than the before. You look great! stop stressing 🙂 however if it’s really bothering you and will make you unhappy the day of your wedding then maybe your seamstress could figure something out. but i really do think the dress looks stunning

I had to look quite a few times too. I see what you are going for but with her taking off that applique and making it straight, it almost looks like she put in a couple extra tiers of tulle. Go to her and tell her what you don’t like. She gets paid to do a service. If the service is not correct, she needs to fix it. I think if she takes out even 1 tier under the top one then press them down a little, it will be like your inspiration pic more.
It also seems you have lost weight and you lost your curves, hence it looking more straight and more poufy. I think you look better (more womanly) with your curves.
In all honesty though, at first, I could not even tell a difference other than lighting, until I looked for all the changes you mentioned. A big poufy mess, you are NOT!

Birdiebaby4: I think the “after” pictures look great, and truthfully, better than your inspiration picture. I think it’s extremely flattering on you!!

I think it just needs steamed?

I do like most of the changes you’ve made to the dress, including removing the detail on the bottom, but I do feel like the ruffles are now less controlled than in the original form. Personally, I prefer “calmer” ruffles, but I don’t think the dress looks bad. Maybe the seamstress could put a small stitch in the top level of layers to calm that layer down a bit?
I must say that I had to look closely to see what changes were actually made. Your guests won’t notice!

I feel like there are more, shorter ruffles now than there were previously. I can’t tell if it is just the camera angle or not though. Was that part of what you asked for?
I would say you might want to consider removing a ruffle or two to get a less “poofy” shape to the bottom. Or just steam the heck out of the bottom to get it to lay a bit more like it lays in the first photo.

Something is off about the bottom – maybe it needs to be steamed? There were distinct layers before, and now it doesn’t have that.
