So going back to this post:

    http://boards.weddingbee.com/topic/dont-wanna-jinx-myself-but-might-have-job-soon

I just got a call that I got the job! Ugh, I am so relieved, but so nervous.

Its not gonna start till the beginning on next year, and its only a temporary job, but it coudl turn into something permanent.  I am not sure about the salary or hours at this point, but will find out soon.

I really hope things work out. I can't believe by the time I start it will be 6 months I was out of a job. Maybe I should try to do retail in the meantime?

congrats! and you could definitely try to do retail over the holidays. you'd get some extra spending money and maybe an employee discount :)

    Yay! Congratulations!

I don't know your whole backstory, unfortunately, but if you're able to collect unemployment and relax over the next few months without working, I'd highly recommend it. I was unemployed two  years ago for four months, and the entire time, I was so busy worrying about finding work (even though I was getting money through unemployment) that I didn't enjoy the time off I had. When I finally got a job, I regretted not relaxing more and doing the things I always say I would do if I had some time off. Oh well.

But if that's not an option for you, definitely look into retail! So many places are hiring right now for the holidays, and they only need people through January, and often, let people go after that, so that would work out great for you! And the employee discounts don't hurt your holiday shopping efforts, either :)

I still have a tiny bit in savigns, so I could survive off not working. I have a feeling I won't end up with a job until then, but I think I should try. Its better that way than to continue eating away at my savings.

    But we'll see!

Congrats!  I know so many people who took jobs covering someone maternity leave and ended up with a full time position.

Great news!  Getting a retail job is a great idea especially with the start of holiday shopping.  I'd totally start giving out my resume before all the retail jobs are taken.  Yay for you.
