Hmm tough call. I know how it is because I went to David’s too, and I really wanted to like it there and their dresses. With yours, I would only like the David’s one on and not the other one, because it wouldn’t work with my figure. However, I fell in love with ivory satin dresses. I actually didn’t end up buying one.

What kind of money are you losing out on? Which one do you feel more comfortable in?

Keep in mind, no one else is paying that much attention to the fabric.

@peachbaby4008: Hey don’t worry. I don’t think they’re similar. I personally prefer the Allure and think you’ve made the right decision. Anyone having dress regret and ordering a new dress I think takes some guts because of the extra cost good for you to listening to your heart and your head by the looks of it as you did the right thing.

If you can afford it then no, don’t feel bad, it’s your money to spend how you want.  Although I don’t get why you brought your DF with you if you didn’t want him to see it?

The first one had pickups and the second one has pleats so they aren’t EXACTLY the same, if that makes you feel better 😛

I like the Allure better! It’s a bit more dramatic and looks a lot different than the DB one to me. I think you were right to get the second one.

So they are similar but the allure is better quality.. I imagine the allure cost a bit more but you pay for what you get. Why do you feel silly? Spending more on a higher quality dress? Unless you just paid for a name upgrade and you really can’t feel or tell a difference in the two than you really shouldn’t feel silly.. IMO

My first time I went shopping I went to one of those factory type bridal store like DB only they sold designer gowns, etc. I did like an augusta jones and was measured for it.. BUT I didn’t like the atmosphere and I did not appreciate the pressure to buy, nor the fact that the sales associate was more interested in her sale than finding me a dress that matched the description of what I wanted.

On whim I made an apt with a bridal boutique like you went to, we popped champaign, we had the place to ourselves and the shop associate listened to what I wanted. It was amazing. I tried on 4 dresses and ended up ordering a Lila Couture which was the 2nd dress I tried on – she knew I wanted some modifications done to it so she custom ordered it WITH them! I spent about double than I would have on the AJ but in the end it was worth it.. If not for the experience alone. I felt slightly guilty but I imagine that will wash away when my custom gown comes I (next month!!!)

@peachbaby4008:  I think the Allure one is absolutely beautiful.  I prefer it to the DB dress.  I think it’s important to feel good about the product you purchase as well as the customer service you receive.  If I were you I would have gone with the other bridal salon.  I hate feeling like just another sale.

@peachbaby4008:  The original DB dress has nothing on that Allure. You’re making the right decision.

@peachbaby4008:  I actually don’t think those dresses are that similiar. I also prefer the Allure. If you have your FI’s go-ahead I don’t see why you can’t get another dress. You could always sell your other dress online or find a consignment store nearby.
