So Fiance and I are both trying to lose a little weight before the wedding. Nothing major, but we were both hoping to drop some pounds to get close to our lowest weights (8-10 lbs for me, 10-15 for him).
Well he weighs himself every morning, and this morning he tells me he’s dropped 14 lbs since New Years. Just through eating less, since it’s been so cold out and we don’t belong to a gym. Meanwhile, I’ve dropped about 3 pounds in the same time period (lost a few extra when I had my tonsils out but put them right back on).
Today he asks me, “How much should I lose? When should I stop?”
Are you kidding me??? How nice it must be for him, to just be able to keep losing weight until he decides to stop. Because if he keeps going, he might get too skinny. HOW COME I CAN’T HAVE THAT PROBLEM??

I totally feel you. I grew up with four younger brothers who stayed skinny as can be. I was always envious of them. THey can eat, eat, and eat anything they want too. If I look at that stuff, I gain 10lbs. It makes me such a sad panda.

@Miss OBG: I am hearing ya. The FH has a ripped stomach and pats it and says he needs loose those extra pounds *WTF*. He eats what I eat and more and is less active. Just not right.

I totally feel your pain and can identify with what you are saying. I am having the hardest time losing the last 10lbs, and I really don’t think it is possible with the time that I have left. My Fiance on the other hand has lost what he wanted to lose, and then some. Sometimes I just want to smack him on the back of his head. It seems so easy for them.

If it’s any consolation, some of these men will get a fierce fright when the metabolism begins to actually slow in their forties or so – it’s a huge culture shock when they realise they can’t eat everything any longer!
My fella’s the same – goes from 3 tsp sugar in the tea to 2 and loses 5 lbs. Sigh.

I hate boys. All they have to do is THINK about losing weight and *POOF* there goes five pounds!

@aunt pol: Don’t want to be a downer, but my Fiance is in his late 40’s and his metabolism hasn’t really slowed down.

I’m in the same boat. I’ve been eating less, exercising, and drinking so much water I don’t even do any work any more, I just use the bathroom all day. Today, Mr. Mellow tells me that he’s dropped FOURTEEN POUNDS in a month. What has he been doing? Drinking LITE BEER. He probably wonders why I screeched and slammed the bathroom door in his face 😉

I hate that men can almost snap their fingers & lose weight.. I’ve lost 4 1/2 lbs total since January, the Fiance has lost about twice as much as I have & yet he is only working out not even watching what he eats. Ugh, I totally hate it!

Yep I hear you ladies its bullshit….I sweat it out at bootcamp the gym and personal training 6+ times a week and watch everything that goes in my mouth and cant seem to drop a bit. Darling Husband stops eating carbs with dinner and losers 20pounds in a couple of months. ARgh

Yep – my Fiance also has already reached his goal weight – in 3 months – through diet switch alone. We have switched to a mostly local/natural/organic diet.
I lost 15 lbs in the same time but still have quite a few more lbs. to go. Meanwhile, I am sweating it out to exercise DVDs and he goes and grabs some ice cream…and giggles at my exercise moves. MEN!!!
Completely unfair. Either way, I’m still going to rock what I’ve got in my bridal gown. 🙂 I hope you do too! 🙂

@noritake22: Ah not all of them will – FI’s dad is 63 and pure skinny – but I’ve seen plenty of them ‘fill out’ rather late 🙂

My husband came home today and said, “I’ve been losing so much weight, I need to either buy a new belt or punch another hole in this one. And I haven’t even done anything!”
In fact, I’ve been stuffing him with all the junk food in the house so I won’t eat it, while I count calories and take the stairs every chance I get and just keep gaining and feeling like trash about myself 🙁
I maybe said I hated him. (Didn’t mean it, of course, and he knew it.)
I feel your pain!!!

My Boyfriend or Best Friend eats SOOOO much and doesn’t gain a pound! I will feed him a filling dinner, and then 1/2 and hour later he starts snacking on whatever he can find! While I’m sitting there wishing I coud dive into the goldfish too, but it’ll put me back in my diet. GRRRR!

My Fiance can eat and eat and not gain weight. I wouldn’t mind him being a little fuller.
