Oh no, that's not good! My husband works on cars a lot too. I don't know beans about them though!
@ MissAsB - Yep. Same here. It's handy to have men that know how to do stuff huh?
I just hate being without a car. I feel trapped, claustrophobic, crippled, and a zillion other things

So, found out today that my transmission is shot. Which means two things. 1) I won't have a car until next Wednesday 2) It's gonna cost somewhere between $1500 - $2000. >_<
My husband is a car man. He can fix practically anything on any type of car BUT since he didn't know exactly what was wrong with the transmission (my car was downshifting VERY hard at stoplights) he needed an actual mechanic to diagnose it.
We took it to the shop this am and the mechanic called him awhile ago. He needs to take the transmission OUT of the car (which costs $400 of labor) to find the problem. He told him that if we let him fix it, he will apply that $400 to the actual cost of fixing it, but if we want him to put it back in the car without fixing it, it's still gonna cost the $400 anyways. *sigh*
After calling around to EVERY salvage/parts yard in the city looking for a transmission to fit my car, hubby found one for $900 BUT it has just as many miles on it as mine does and there would be no warranty. My hubby could put it in, and it might save us a few hundred bucks, but like I said - NO WARRANTY. If we let the mechanic fix it, there is a year warranty on it... So we decided to do that. Now I just have to wait a week.
Me - car = not happy.
