@BeeRod527:  Do you have a picture of it? Maybe we can help you with decorating ideas to help you feel better and give you some options!!!

the cieling is perfect for hanging a bunch of different sized paper lanterns! I LOVE that look, and it totally transforms the space:

plus you can find them online for super cheap.

Also consider some DIY draping or look for a groupon (you have so much time and one might pop up)!! If you google “DIY draping” lots of ideas come up.

That venue looks similar to yours, and the white/shades of white look great! What are you doing for lighting? are the chandeliers going to be on as well as the lights on the walls??

That room just looks like a blank canvas..in a good way!  You can do so much with it! It doesn’t have to cost a fortune either. The uplighting alone will make a very dramatic difference. Now, imagine it with tables, table cloths, and centerpieces. It’s easy to feel a little jealousy on weddingbee. People who can spend 100k on their weddings love posting pictures of their elaborate decor. That’s great for them, but most of us can’t afford the same.

@jasonkatie2014:  I thought paper laterns straight away too. The venue itself is very reasonable, its just the ceiling that needs a little extra decorating.

@BeeRod527:  I dont think your picture or link attached- but I think that with the uplighting and everything else you described- you’ll be amazed at the transformation! (and I so agree about that curtain).  Your colors are classic and will work well together.  Don’t sweat it! I think it will be great!! Also – I vote candles! they make such a soft and romantic atmosphere!

@BeeRod527:  gorgeous!!!! I don’t see any reason why your venue wont emulate this!!

Edit: I also noticed they don’t have draping! It still looks great!

@BeeRod527:  haha listen.  I live in NYC and work in midtown.  There are about a billion and a half venues that are better than mine on my 7 block walk from the subway to my job.  You can’t constantly compare things, otherwise you’ll never be happy.  I think your ideas are great, and I think they’ll look amazing in your space.  Like a PP said- your venue is a blank canvas – which is a good thing.  You’re probably just feeling upset because it’s hard to “see” it all together.  Trust that your lighting person knows what they’re doing, and trust the opinions of your friends on here! You’ll be fine!

@BeeRod527:  Your friends’ weddings weren’t NICER because they weren’t YOUR wedding.  When YOU get married it will be awesome.  And if your friends are going to talk about you behind your back, and constantly snipe about how much money you spent…you are SO MUCH BETTER OFF without them.

Just do the uplighting thing or whatever.  It’ll be fine.
