Does anyone else feel this way?
Just today I was relying on my dad to bring over the title to my car (was my mother’s vehicle, was put in my name after she passed away, but he was still holding onto the title) because I need to transfer it to the state I moved to (we live right on the Ohio/Michigan boarder). He lives about 30 mins from me and said he would be over my way running errands so he would drop it off. He just called me to say that he won’t make it out my way to drop it off for blah, blah, blah, reason/excuse (he’s pretty lazy). Well my birthday is Wednesday so I need the title ASAP so I can change my license over, etc. I would go get it myself but I have errands of my own to run- dog to the vet, grocery store, tennis league tonight, etc. (he was going to drop it off later when FI is home). I knew I should have just picked it up over the weekend when we first started discussing the situation. It really isn’t that big of a deal I suppose, but he is very unreliable, always changing/cancelling plans. I am a planner and I like to stick to a schedule.
It drives me crazy!!!

Yup. I try not to rely on anyone unless I really need to… it’s kind of sad but what else can you do?!

I ran into these types of situations with the wedding planning and the day of. Then got a text from someone saying “You don’t have to do everything yourself”. Um, yes, yes I do! Because if I don’t, they don’t get freaking done! I am not one to wait on other people to do things, because often times they fall short 🙁

@orchidaloha: I feel like a bad person when I try not to give anyone responsibilities, but man I just get burned all the time!
I was the president of my grad school student organization last year, and as president I delegated a lot of tasks. I’d say about 30% of the tasks were completed in a timely, orderly fashion without my help. It drove me crazy! I had to send emails upon emails to get people to follow throught with their responsibilities. I felt like a hawk!

I’m the same way, the old saying is true, “If you want something done right, do it yourself!” Yes, there are times when people come thru, but those are few and far in between.

Just wanted to share another experience I’ve had with relying on someone else.
FI and I recently moved a few hours away from our home town. He is currently driving one of my vehicles (I inherited an extra vehicle due to my mother’s passing) because his old truck is a gas hog. Well, FI decided to sell the truck which is parked at his brother’s house. He was able to sell it in a week! Yay!
So FI’s brother said he would wire us the money from selling the truck. I asked FI why his brother wouldn’t just deposit it into his bank account. Well I guess the closest branch of FI’s bank to his brother is a half hour away. So since that was inconvenient, he decided to have his bank send out a cashier’s check to FI. Apparently he is able to do this online?
That was last friday. We haven’t gotten the check yet.
We were going to use that money to go to a friends wedding tomorow. Without the money, we can’t go.
I’m not sure why it has taken so long. It would have been a lot faster for FI’s brother to go to his bank, have a cashier’s check made, and then he personally mail it to us.
