Ugh yes. And he just got access to a whole bunch of games from his brother. Its so frustrating, he totally shuts down and hears nothing I say. And all he says is swearing (not too bad but still, I don’t like it!) and yelling at others. He really wants to get a wii but I don’t think I’m gonna let that happen anytime soon!

What is it with that game that does that to people. I hate First person Shooter games.  An old roommate of ours played that game all hours of the night LOUDLY. IM LIKE, A DUDE, ITS 4AM! unlike your unemployeed ass my man has to go to work in the morning

I was so happy when we moved out

He started muting other players because he found them offensive. He plays with earphones on too sometimes. He does get a bit riled when the match is intense or someone plays cheap but just like.. “oh f*** off!!” or something.

@rcac1208:  Lol, yep. But I boil it down to him needing to release his frustrations/hash it out. It’s better than him drinking, doing drugs or taking it out on me 😉

No, it is actually a huge pet peeve of mine. Luckily, DH isn’t really into gaming. He occasionally will play Madden or something, but not the COD games. I saw this on Pinterest today and thought it was applicable to a lot of friends of mine who always complain that their SO’s do nothing but sit in front of their gaming console and yell/scream/tune everyone else out:

@rcac1208:  FI rarely plays games and when he does it’s because I’ve asked him to. If you aren’t a gamer, you won’t get it. I get exactly the same way.

I know this isn’t suppose to be funny, but I had to laugh. I feel the same way! My FI gets really loud and loses his mind with that game. And I just politley say, hunny? and he goes back to being his normal self. Like trashy reality television is for me, it’s his release. It is good for him 🙂

Ugh yes. He is like this with sports too. It’s really frustrating seeing him get that upset. I have told him I won’t play sports with him if he acts like that so he’s at least stopped that but when he plays video games I just leave the room.

This gaming crap is one thing I am SO GLAD I do not have to deal with in my relationsihp. It’s a huge stressor and source of many problems in some of my friend’s relationships. ick!

But in your situation, he sounds like he’s being a typical competitive gaming asshat with “the boys”. Just laugh and walk away lol

@MrsPanda99:  Exactly.

Honestly, you’re just going to have to get over it. I have a hard time wrapping my head around how this could “disgust” you, I guess. He’s just playing a game. Unless he’s using derogatory terms (or it’s bleeding in to his non-gaming life), this isn’t really a big deal. : I mean, I’m not into FPS games, but I’ve been known to yell at the tv or computer when something screws up (or scares me).

Video game playing was a dealbreaker for me. I feel there is nothing good that can come from them. Luckily, FI agrees. Same with sports watching. Playing, great! Mindless watching, no way!

Sorry you’re having to deal with it, OP.

My brother is this way when playing video games. It would scare my mother when he still lived at home because she would just hear sudden yelling from him and wonder what was going on. In my experience it is extremely common.

FI and I play video games occasionally on a rainy day but we’re strictly of the Super Mario Bros series…circa 1980s,1990s. The popular games of our childhoods. It’s just for fun.
