and I’m not excited at all. The first interview I was excited, I haven’t had a call in months after sending out resume after resume. Then I got there and they told me that after training was over it would be 100% commission job. When I applied for the position I applied because it was a manager training position, they say that because most people move up in 3 months to a year. The guy also told me that the days are long, like 12 hours. I’m just not happy, but I feel like I have to take what I can get. Beggars can’t be choosers and all that jazz. Fiance and I are doing okay, but I would like to contribute. The thing is that we’re also planning a move after the wedding, we’re both going to be looking into positions 3+ hours away. I’m just not sure what to do. Oh well I have to get going to my interview. Wish me luck.

Aw, I’m sorry. Just remind yourself that it’s a temporary job. Can you keep looking for other jobs that are more satisfying in the meantime?
My Future Brother-In-Law got a mostly commission job making sales calls right out of his undergrad and ended up leaving for something else, but the paycheck supplemented his job search in the meantime. It’s so tough working a job that you absolutely hate. I did it all last year (sales, but without commission, they extorted us by saying we wouldn’t get hours if we didn’t get X number of sales) and quitting that job was one of my happiest days.

Good luck! I hope the outlook improves. (:

Good Luck! Even if it’s not your dream job it will pay the bills and help you save for your wedding and move. Just keep in the back of your head that it’s temporary and that should help you get through it, just whatever you do don’t tell the company you are only there temporarily.

I’m sorry that you aren’t happy about the job. I hope it just turns out to be temporary and you aren’t there that long. And if you don’t get it, it might be a blessing in disguise. At least you two are doing alright even without the income.

I hope it ends up being a “just for now” job and that you’ll be able to quickly get into a better job. Here’s hoping!

Just my personal opinion here so feel free to ignore me but…..
If you are not desperate for money? Do not take the job. 100% commission jobs are generally scams IMO. A lot of times they end up COSTING you money because they don’t reimburse you for gas/travel/supplies (depending on what you’re selling). I feel like it doesn’t look good to take a job that you will probably quit in a few weeks anyways. If you’re desperate for money I’d try to get a job at starbucks or as a server or something, at least that is guaranteed money.

@ Corgi- I’ve considered just not taking it, and most of my thoughts align pretty closely with yours. After talking to the guy more today it doesn’t feel like a scam. I make commission if it’s more than minimum wage but if I have a bad week I’ll make hourly minimum. Honestly tho, I’ve applied for serving/starbucks/mcdonalds jobs as well, but never heard back. Until the wedding/move I would love something like that to make some extra money, and then after the wedding/move start hitting the pavement where we are planning to move. As for now, we’ll see what comes of this job, I still need a third interview so this could all be pointless.

Well, at least you got a second interview. I can’t even seem to get a call! Sad face.
