My dress is the Allure 8862 which is a strapless sweetheart neck. Although I haven’t brought it to the tailor yet, I have tried it on about 10000 times and the bust/waist seems to fit fine BUT it really seems to make me look much wider from front to back of my body. I’m smaller chested and don’t have a tummy at all so I dont understand why its doing this! I really think it might be the boning. I’ve tried on many other wedding dresses without boning and my waist was slim!
Has anyone else had this issue of looking wider with the boning in??

Hello! I felt this same way. I ended up buying a dress without boning. II have a nice hourglass shape and felt boning made me look really boxy, kind of like I just went straight down until my hips. The dress I bought without boning allowed my waist to be defined.

I do feel this way about boning – I don’t know why but I feel like it also makes me look boxy.
Could you ask your seamstress to remove the boning, or would it completely change the dress? (I have done this a few times on other regular dresses I owned becuse I loved the dress, but hated the boning.) So I just cut the bottom of the seam, took out the boning and sewed it back up.

@NEbride2Be: Yay im not the only one!
@AnnieAAA: I’ll ask her but I know this seamstress is a big boning fan because I went with a friend of mine to alter her dress. I wasnt sure if it was just me or not!
What reeeeally bother me the most is how it makes me look from a side profile….so much bigger!
