We have two cats, they were DH’s when I moved in almost 5 years ago, there is a grey one, Stoli, who he had first, then our orange one, Tuaca, who he took in a few years later. These two cats don’t particularly like eachother, but they tolerate eachother’s presence, and after 5 years with me here they will now sit on the same couch at the same time, sometimes touching, and typically it’s only if I’m sitting on the couch too (only a handful of times in 5 years have they sat near eachother on their own). Only once or twice have I seen them rub on eachother and once I saw Stoli lick Tuaca’s head, I nearly cried I was so happy. lol
Well, over the last year/6 months Tuaca has been stealing Stoli’s “spots”, Stoli is a creature of habit and for years they each had their own spots, Stoli picks places he wants to lay and they are his “spots”, whenever I can’t find him I just look in his spots and I can find him pretty quickly, and now it seems Tuaca is trying them on for size, which he has never done before. It started small, we have a bench in our backyard that Stoli always lays in, I went outside one day and Tuaca was in that spot. Stoli moved over to the lounge chair by the pool for a while, a few days later Tuaca tried that spot out. Spot by spot Tuaca has copied Stoli, and today was just over the top… Stoli has taken to stealing our australian shepherd mix’s bed at night and in the morning when “he’s done with it”, he loves that bed and will sleep there for most of the day. Well, I went into the bedroom where the bed is to grab a pair of shoes and guess who was in the dog’s bed… Tuaca, the cat has never even been interested in the bed before!
It’s so strange, it’s like he’s trying to be like his “big brother” all of a sudden, he never tries these spots when his brother is there, so it’s not like he’s trying to cuddle and Stoli leaves, it’s the strangest thing.
Anyone else have any “copy cats”?
