Ok, so I am determine to exercise and get healthy and lose weight. Not just for the wedding but in general. The thing is right now, we live with my fiance’s aunt and uncle because he got laid off and neither of us has been able to find work. We get SNAP benefits and the deal was if we bought food for the house we wouldn’t have to pay rent. I’m wanting to start to eat healthy but his aunt makes the lists and buys all the food. I’ve tried to ask if we could buy healthier food but since they have 3 kids they say that the kids won’t eat the food. All they buy is junk and we are scared to say anything because we have no where else to go–so how can I eat healthy when I don’t prepare meals?

Can you just add healthier food to the list? If you’re paying for the food, why can’t you add some food in there that you guys want to eat? Just because you buy food for the house doesn’t mean that you shouldn’t get a say in what the food is.

If you’re paying anyways, just add in some healthier options too. The kids don’t have to eat the same thing as you…and besides, you may be surprised. My FI’s 3 1/2 year old LOVES tilapia and quinoa…

I’ve tried before and she got crabby but i think it might just be time to let her know i’d like to add some opetions too and not be a push over. And with their kids–the daughter isn’t picky but both boys have autism so they treat them special and the boys know how to get their way so they walk all over their parents. So, a lot of times the list will be what the boys like.

@MrsGorsuch2013: Oh, that sounds like a sucky situation! Your aunt sounds like she has some bad habits and is unaware of what food to buy. However, because she’s on government assistance, she probably doesn’t have much leeway and thinks she has to buy the cheapest food; which is usally processed, full of artificial ingredients and high in sigar iand fat. It’s a vicious cycle. I would say do all you can to get out of the situation because you aunt is probably doing what she can with what she has!
