lol you have me both giggling and revolting away from the screen right now! No way you look that bad. I dont have any experience with fever blisters, but can you try calling a dermatologist? They may be able to inject you with something at the site for quicker healing. If all else fails, look into tattoo cover up makeup for the wedding. you have 4 weeks to go (!!!!) try not to stress over it - it will take longer to heal =o)
Dermatologist dermatologist!
It sounds like you have cystic acne. Those guys are the ones that are deep and NEVER pop, and just seem to fester. Your derm can fix them and shoot them with cortisone (I think? Can't remember) and it heals them in like, 3 seconds. (Or 3 days. Take your pick).
Oh, and drink water! And don't touch your face!

P.S. My dermatologisties. I go mainly to Dr. Casey. He's boring, but really good.
Try drinking white teas to calm your skin! I agree that a trip to the derm is in order. Get a prescription such as minocycline (sp?) and it will clear you up. =)
Mario Badescu has a drying formula that is great for taking care of last minute zits. It's a lotion you dab onto them. That works great and I used to use it back when I had this issue. That is one thing about being 40..not as many zits so that's one of the few bonuses.
You're pretty no matter what though. Zits or none.
And at the doc (derma) office, you can get cortizone shots that will take care of things quickly.
Oh good call! I'm going to hit up the derm on my lunch break!
I haven't been doing anything differently, except for being a stressball and taking massive amounts of antibiotics (Flagyl? Could that be causing this?) so I don't really know what's causing it!!
I will definitely try the water and tea and drying lotion. I'll try anything!!!
@Belle - I've seen that stuff in the back of magazines before and always wondered if it works. I'm definitely going online to order some RIGHT NOW. And, thank you!
Footnote: I just turned 32 a few days ago!! Why would this be happening now! (the sound of my own internal whining is getting on my nerves. It sounds a bit like Lucille Ball when she cries.)
For some reason antibiotics always zap all of my zits. That is really weird. :(
And of course, you're gorgeous regardless of zits! :)
See a derm and don't touch your face. Also, ask the doctor about a prescription for fever blisters (or cold sores). The medicine they can prescribe is much much more effective in preventing those little buggers from appearing.
I find that vinegar works good for cold sores! It burns SOOOOO bad and basically takes off some skin, but i've done tests on myself where I do it, then 3 days later it's healed, and i leave the other one alone, and it festers for over 2 weeks.
Sounds like you are VERY stressed out! You need to try and relax and I would also suggest seeing a dermatologist. Don't worry, you still have plenty of time to get your skin under control. Just breathe!
apple cider doesn't work as well (i tried it once and it did nothing for mine!)...it has to be the white vinegar. I don't know why! But it's known to be a disinfectant, so maybe that's why it's so effective. your lip will feel very burnt afterwards and the skin comes off. It's basically an acid peel! ha! Totally gross =]. Let me know if it works for you!
@ Fiftyfootbride - you just explained for me why my skin is clear all of a sudden - antibiotics! Too bad it's dangerous to be on the darn things all the time (and penicillin does not taste very delicious).
Laylabelle, the ladies here have given you great suggestions - the dermatologist is definitely the way to go! Get your butt an appointment! And try to relax lady - four weeks is plenty of time ... so it'll be okay!
And that picture? I have to scroll down ever so quickly to prevent a case of the "I sh*t my panties."
Oh no... I'm sure it doesn't look as bad as you think it does, we always tend to be our worse critic.
Congrats on only being a month away! Also, with a month to go, you can easily get this cleaned up by then. Go to the dermatologist, they'll be able to get the acne under control. For the fever blister, Abreva really does work wonders. It's expensive, but super potent. i used it right before a really big day (can't remember what it was, might have been prom) and it cleared it up in like 2 days.
EJS - that vinegar trick sounds awesome. I'll have to give that a try the next time I get one.
Not sure what the others have said but this just started happening to me so I went to the dermatogist too. Everyone laughed at me because apparently it wasn't AS bad as I made it out to be. I'm sure that's the case here but you want flawless skin for you wedding and flawless skin you shall have!
First, since I had an event to be at they, did a steroid injection on the most noticeable spots. Not gonna lie, it hurt like HELL but the redness and the bumps went away right away. So, just in case, schedule an appointment with a dermatologist about 3 days from your wedding. And if you have to cancel or don't show, oh well! Secondly, they switched my birth control. They said that I may have gotten used to the Rx I had been using for awhile. Lastly, they persrcribed me 3 things and I had the chose of which would work better. The first was an antibiotic of some kind but they warned that it could make my skin really dry, so I didn't use it. The next was a gel that up apply to the wherever the problem is, there are commercials for it now, epiduo. I tried it and my face was sooo dry, like it was cracking when I laughed (Now that I think about it, I understand the term "cracking up" more). The last was called duac (I believe) and its the best one. Its also a gel and comes with a face wash as well. All of these things may help you but I'd suggest meeting with a dermatologist ASAP, and scheduling another one 3 days before the wedding :o) HOPE it works!!
Olansky Dermatology is also a great derm in Atlanta (their office is in Buckhead).
Anyone else notice that the picture of QuasiMoto looks a lot like Sloth from The Goonies? :)
((Hugs)), Doll! I am sure you will look flawless on the big day!
I second the derm. suggestion, but be careful mixing all the suggestions above. I know when I try something like that it ends up drying out my skin and then I look quite reptilian (not so cute).
But I'm with you on the skin issues in my 30's, it's crazy but after a few derm. visits to get it all calmed down it does get better. Oh...and I actually stopped wearing makeup daily for the 2 weeks leading up to the wedding and I think that helped quite a bit as well. Regardless take a deep breath and know you will look beautiful on your wedding day!!
ps. war eagle ;)
Also make sure you don't whatever you do, touch your face! Bacteria alert! That's rule one!
And yes, antibiotics can clear the skin up.
Hahah, ggsb, you just had to get that one in! ;) My fiance is on cloud 9!!
Okay, I will try the white vinegar tonight and let you know. I'm going to call and make an appointment with the derm today!
I may not look as bad as old Quasi up there (not having the back hump and all), but I do look pretty dang gross. Blech.
I use L-Lysine supplements to prevent & heal fever blisters/ cold sores. The virus comes out when your Lysine/ Arginine balance is off- caused by stress, too much sun, chocolate, nuts, alcohol, etc.
I've taken the prescription they give but afte two days I stopped because my kidneys were hurting so bad.

I've always had pretty nice skin - no major problems other than a little oiliness and a small pimple here and there (and occasionally, a large pimple). Suddenly, I am breaking out like never before. And in totally different places than normal (on my cheeks and jawline) and NOTHING seems to work!
Also, everytime I get really sick and run a fever, I end up with a fever blister. Well, I was reaaaaaally sick last week and ran a fever for two days, and lo and behold, I look like a walking Abreva ad. (Which never works for me, btw)
My wedding is in four weeks!!!! Actually, OMG, it's exactly a month from TODAY!! (yaaaaaaaaaaaay!)
But I look like Quasimodo!!! And no, not the cute Disney version.
THIS guy.
HELP!
