As November 19 quickly approaches, I’m happy, I’m sad; I’m laughing, I’m crying… and today started off as a really crappy day with the sky super angry, and just as I was about to cross the street to my office, a gigantic truck flew by and drenched me in fallen rain water. One of those days.
So I went through my work day (okay, fine, I’m still technically supposed to be working…), pretty cranky. My best friend (and yes, MOH) just texted me that her friend can get us a discount (a really good one) on our rooms. I said great, but can you use my credit card? My MOH is from out of town, heck, so am I, so we agreed to share a room until my wedding night when, obviously, I would swtich with my hubs. She decided that she wants to gift us our hotel room, and I couldn’t change her mind. She won’t let me pay for hers either. I tried to pay for her flight too, but she wouldn’t let me! (she flew from accross the country to go dress shopping with me earlier this year, I really wanted to pay for her second flight)
She’s also my voice of reason. If I’m feeling wedding-crazy, she calls me and talks me down. She’s so reassuring and the perfect best friend. Even with her dress, she let me pick it out believing it was her favorite. I kept asking if she loved it, and she said yes. After she paid for it, she said she liked a different one more, but that it was my wedding and I loved that one– so she was more than happy to wear it.
While she’s my maid of honor for my wedding, she’s been my best friend for 15 years, since middle school, and I really could not ask for a better lifelong friend. With all the other drama associated with a wedding (sucky family, crappy caterer), I know she’ll be there to make me laugh about it.
No real point to this… we have our first dance lesson tonight, and I was playing the song and talking to her and just started happy crying. I hoped typing it out would help.
Does anyone else have a person who’s really coming through for them?
