I was on birth control for about 11 years and decided back in June that I would go off it completely. My fiancé and I would like to some day have kids and I wanted all of the drug out of my system before we started trying.
My issue is I haven’t had a period in 6 months after going off it. I was taking Levora, and I would only have a period every three months because I would skip my sugar pills. I’ve read all about birth control messing up your system but now I’m a little scared that I might not ovulate anymore. I just started a new job and won’t get medical until February so I figured id get some advice here.
Has anyone had this issue and what did you do to fix it?

I’m in the same boat although not quite as long. If you figure out a solution let me know. You’re not alone!
I read somewhere that grapefruit juice works. So far no luck though.

I was on Loestrin for 11 years and only had a period once every 4-5 months while on the pill. I got off the pill in early May and went in for my annual in July and discussed with my doctor that I had not had a period yet. She said it can take some time but if I hadn’t had it by September to come back in and she would give me something to “jumpstart” it. I ended up getting it in late July so never needed to go that route. However, I have only had two since (Sept and Nov) so went back in for bloodwork and my hormones are all out of whack. She doesn’t seem to think it is the pill because that would be out of my system by now so it seems I have something else causing the imbalance. I don’t want to worry you but just giving my experience since I am going through it now. It boils down to this: my husband and I would be able to get pregnant on our own if we by chance catch it the once every four months or so I ovulate, or she will give me clomid to regulate my cycle so that I will ovulate and it will give us a better chance. You can look into some vitamins that are supposed to help before you get your insurance. I know earlypregnancytests.com has some that are supposed to aid in hormone balancing. I haven’t tried anything yet so can’t give any specific recommendations. Good luck!
