Saying "I love you" is not the words I want to hear from you... ;)
(Sorry, this post just got "More Than Words" stuck in my head!)
That's a sweet list. When I tell FI that I love him, I am usually saying thank you--to him, to the universe, to whatever, and expressing my gratitude that I get to be with such an amazing person.
When I say it I'm saying I appreciate everything you do and everything you are and I'm so lucky to have you in my life!
I want to make you happy -- I say that to my fiance a lot :o)
I am saying that I cherish him and our life together. I am saying that if I have a son who grows up to be exactly like him, then I will consider myself as a parent a success. I'm saying that on the days I want to chuck him out the window, it is more than fear of prison that stops me... :)
I haven't said it, mostly because I don't want to be first. I'm 99.99999% sure he'd say it back and he feels the same way. But I'm old fashioned and feel like he should go first... But when I do say it, it'll be "I can't imagine my life without you, I'm so glad I've found you, You're the most amazing man I've ever met, and I want to be the mother of your children."
My I love you's are so loaded!
I love everything about you!
You make me happy!
I love my life with you!
I want you!
I need you!
I often tell him these things too!
(okay i must be majorly pms'g because i'm tearing up here thinking about it)
When I say I love you
You are the man I've looked for to complete me
You're my best friend
I want to make sure your whole life is okay
I want to make sure you never have a sad day
I want to spend the rest of my life figuring out what it is about you that has me in awe
I want to make babies with you
I love ummm practicing to make babies with you
I'm not a religious person but you are so perfectly matched for me and just what I need so I know that God must exist
I intend on spending the rest of my life trying to figure out what it is about you that has me so utterly entertwined in loving you.

Well, not with the saying it really, but with trying to say it the way I want it to sound. Saying "I love you" seems too simple. I want to say more everytime I say it. I end up saying it multiple times a day just because it doesn't sound how I want it to sound.
I've been making a list of what saying "I love you" means and I plan to give it to FI someday (if I ever get it finished). So far I have:
When I say I love you, I am really saying:
-I want to be with you beyond forever
-I want to take care of you
-I want to have your children
-I want to hold you forever
What are you saying when you say "I love you" to your SO?
