It is getting to be strawberry season right now which means they will be at their tastiest!
Hahaha you crack me up!!
Strawberries are good, indeed. You have a fellow fruit non-eater here and I too, used to only have bananas... dipped in peanut butter, almond butter or nutella, yum!
Try mangoes! They're good. I'm too lazy to buy the fresh ones because they're hard to cut and arrange, but we buy them frozen. Let me know what you think!
How could you not like strawberries? They are, like, the world's perfect food! :)
Although I can imagine if you had some bad ones they could turn you off of them for awhile.
i understand - i'm not a huge strawberry girl because i find them too tart, or something.
apples and cottage cheese! this is my new go-to fruit snack that keeps me full in the afternoon at work!
i love strawberriese! :) my aphrodisiac! LOLs. TMI? hahaha.
did you hear about strawberry season this year? (around MI anyway)... they're super cheap right now because they have an overproduction of them on some strawberry farms... they're even letting the ones currently on the vines go bad because there's just too many strawberries!
i just got 2 quart sized cartons for $3.00 at the local grocery store! :) they're usually $3.99 a piece AT LEAST!
I love sprinkling a little splenda on strawberries! Sometimes I put them in milk, pour a pack or two of splenda over them, and eat them like cereal. I'm a little uncertain about that negative calorie thing though. Sounds like that fad grapefruit diet that turned out not to work. But either way I'm sure they're way healthier than the chips!
Awesome - thats great you found a fruit you can get into! And if sprinkling a little splenda gets you to eat them, then I say no harm done. Actually, when I was a little kid, my mom always gave us strawberries with a little bowl of sugar to dip them in to convince us to eat fruit (a spoonful of sugar helps the medicine go down, right?)
I love strawberries! My mom always made strawberry jam to keep our strawberry fix going in the winter. They are definately my favorite fruit. I'm so excited, we planted some plants in the fall last year and they are growing really well, hopefully we'll get some this summer.
I love strawberries... when I was in HS i worked at a grocery store and I would eat a carton a day!
Strawberries - drool. Even better with sugar or cool whip! haha! I also heart green grapes!
Congratulations :-)
I don't like a lot of fruit either, but I do love strawberries; also fresh red cherries, granny smith apples with cheddar cheese, bananas a little bit on the green side, and that is about it. I don't really like vegtable either, but I make up for it with salads.
I love strawberries, especially with balsamic vinegar and some sugar. You should try them like that, it enhances all the flavors.
Following Sillysil comment:
AND balsamic vinegar (and all vinegars, actually) burn more fat so it's an added bonus to your strawberries!!

I loveeee strawberries. chopem up, sprinkle some sugar on them, they'll juice up, then use them make them into a strawberry shortcake the next day :) yum yum !!! I'm actually having that tonight for dessert :)
@farmersdaughter - that's how we used to eat strawberries too! And I always poured myself a little more sugar than I "needed" (because really, did we need the sugar to start with?) and would lick my finger to grab all the tasty granules when the strawberries were gone.
I didn't even know there were people who didn't like strawberries! :)
Sadly, though, I'm in Florida, which means there will only be Plant City, FL strawberries available for awhile, and so far they suck. I think the crazy freezing we had here this winter took away all of their flavor. They all taste like water. Sad.
@ bree - lol - yeah, I'm unique I guess. I really dislike fruit in general, BUT I am trying to change. I'm hoping it is an acquired taste that will increase over time ;)
I usually find that store bought strawberries suck. Some grocers inject them with dyes to make them look more ripe than they are, and when you bite in ... SOUR to the max. Not good.
However, there is the odd time that you can actually pick up a carton that are actually ripe and deliciously sweet.
I'm spoiled, and grew up with wild strawberries in my backyard. They tend to be reeeeeeaally tiny, but ultra sweet. <3 strawberries.
@bree: We are only getting the Plant City, FL strawberries here in AL too and they aren't the greatest.
I'm surprised to hear that..we actually got some from Plant City last week and they really good. My grandpa sent me home with some because he bought 2 flats..his whole refridgerator was completely full of strawberries. Maybe I disguised the true taste too much though, I love them with sugar!
I'd love to taste wild strawberries. I can't stand bitter fruit, which is why I'm a notorious "dipper" :)
I love strawberries. I was so happy when my Dr. told me that strawberries have a good amount of fiber in them. My mama usually slices strawberries and pineapples and put a little confectioner's sugar on them.
My favorite salad that I like to take credit for inventing but I'm sure someone else did: Sliced strawberries, avacado, crumbled blue cheese, and oil and vinegar dressing. It's delish and whenever i make it people freak out (in a good way)
yumm i love ripe strawberries but can hardly ever get them here. i swear everytime i go to the store and get them, theyre super super tart!!
Strawberries are delicious! Raspberries have to be my favorite though...but since they're so expensive I usually just stick to the strawberries. :)
Mmmmm, I love strawberries :)
I've been told celery is a negative calorie food, too.
I love fruit but I have to admit strawberries are my least favorite. I'm with sillysil - the taste of strawberries with balsamic is sooo good - when the vinegar's reduced it's got this awesome flavor. Here's a simple recipe from Whole Foods

Oh & I hear brocolli is a negative calorie food too - Plus, it's got a lot of fiber, so score! :)
They are SUPER sweet around here right now! Sweet balsamic on top is delish!
PS they aren't really a negative calorie food, though...they're a fruit, which means they do have sugars in them. In fact, when I looked them up, there are 50 calories per cup. yeah that's pretty much negative, but celery has 15 calories.
Whatever, they're good for ya and SUPER tasty right now =]

As you may or may not know, I'm not big on fruit. I hardly ever eat it, except for bananas, which are pretty tasty.
I'm climbing painfully back up onto the workout wagon, and with my new-found motivation comes the determination to eat more fruits/veggies and HEALTHY snacks. (read: not a baggie full of doritos between meals).
Hubby went to the store yesterday and bought groceries. He likes fruit a lot more than I do, so he bought some strawberries. He's already eaten 1/3 of the carton, and as I stared into the fridge this morning I wondered to myself just what was so special about them anyways.. I've had them before (sually buried under some cool whip or ice cream in a shortcake) but by themselves, they're not that great. Then I remembered what hubby said the other day. They are NEGATIVE calorie foods (something he read in MY women's health magazine and apparently something I decidedly skipped over being that the article had the word 'fruit' in it) meaning that it takes more calories to eat them than they actually have. AWESOME. Sooo.. I put 4 of the little suckers in a tupperware container and off to work I went.
Just had my tasty snack (I sort of cheated cuz I dipped them in splenda - but that's ok right?) and they were actually pretty darn good..
I honestly wish I had packed 5 instead of only 4 ;)
