oh honey! HOLLY S###!!! I AM SO SORRY! what happened????!!!
was it an accident? (just kidding, had to ask) so sorry to hear... any way of getting it back or are you in deep waters? hopefully it's insured...
Is it a big and choppy lake??
If its rather stagnant, and on the shore line. Mark the spot and go get flashlights...
If you were boating...last resort scuba gear?
What happend?!!!
So sorry :(
More details are needed here. Was it an accident? You called off your engagement?
Help us out here! So we can commiserate more effectively!
@panterapeach:I literally did the same thing, wine!!
We were at the cabin this weekend and I took mine off cause it felt too lose in that water....
OMG!!!!! I'm so sorry!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Ladies, grab the snorkles and lets go find it for her!!!!
what sort of lake and how deep/far away from shore is it??? contact local scuba diving clubs, find out if any of them are interested in seaching for you, heck ask if there is an underwater gold detector (i dont know if they exist)
i hope it was insured *hugs*
@CurlyRN and @panterapeach:
I just did the same thing! Third glass, down the hatch. Prayin for you, OP! Please God, tell me it was insured!
@hellomrsko: ACK!!!!! SOOOOO Sorry to hear this!!!!! Hopefully it's a lake where you can look for it or get some local scuba divers to search for it. :(
@eloping:I'm sure there are water-proof metal detectors (gotta have a way to find those lost treasures, right?), the question is how available they are and cost.
scuba diving companies do searches in the ocean (for hire), often successfully...not the same as a dark lake, but worth asking about. you know, if it was an accident...
I'm so sorry! I hope you can retrieve it one way or the other, or at the very least that it was insured.
OMG I'm so sorry :/// I hope you are/were able to find it, or at least that it's insured! **HUGS**
horrible. we were swimming in a lake last sunday and i was nervous the whole time. aftrer reading this i think I'm going to take mine off when we go this sunday. I am so sorry this happened. please let us know if it was at least insured?
That's it? No more details? That's kind of mean:) But I am sorry you lost your ring:(
@EmmyJane:I would be willing to search the entire weekend if I was closer. I'm not even joking!
I'm so sorry! I just saw a man with a metal detector in the lake when dh and I were swimming. Don't give up!
this is exactly why I don't wear my rings to the beach/lake - eek! (I have a 'stand-in' ring that I wear if I want to wear something)
I hope it was insured or if not, maybe you've found it with a flashlight?? :(
Bodies of water can be cold and cause normally snug rings to slip off. I lost a few rings in the ocean when I was a teenager... hope you find yours!
That sucks (assuming it was an accident). Hope it's insured!
um. omg. that was my absolute terror when I was swimming earlier this summer. I would not risk it again. (I told FI he needs to give me the box so I can keep it in for safe keeping when I do stuff like that!)
but...no details? Do you have a plan to try and find it? (If it's less than 20 feet under!)
Thank you for all your support ladies, and I apologize for the vagueness last night. I was completely devestated and didn't really know what to do.
First off let me just say that yes, we're both totaly fine, and yes, the wedding is still on - even though Mr. KO was a bit livid in the first few minutes.
Honestly, it's the dumbest story ever and I feel like the biggest ass on the planet. You're all going to face/palm when you read it so get ready...
As we were about to get out of the car I went to grab my phone out of my purse and noticed that I still had Mr. KO's ring in there from when we went to the jewelers the other day (we wanted to check out it's authenticity since I bought it on eBay - it's legit), jokingly I asked him if he wanted to wear it since A. I didn't really want to leave it in the car and B. He really likes wearing it, he smiles anytime he sees it... and it makes me pretty happy seeing it on that finger so what's the harm, right? Fast forward 20 minutes and we're having a great time being cute and lovey and splashing around, I notice how big the ring gaps when he hold his hand a certain way and ask him if he's SURE that it fits right and we don't need to get it resized... He starts tugging on it to see how easily come off, and of course, OF COURSE I HAVE TO GO AND DO THE SAME DAMN THING. It jerked off my finger and dropped ~5 feet under. I proceeded to stand in the same spot for ten minutes while Mr. KO tore off to grab some goggles and after an hour of sifting around with our toes and pushing eachother to the bottom looking for it we gave up.
DUMBEST.STORY.EVER. I just can't beleive it.
After I stopped crying and making those horrible noises you make when you're hysterical I hopped on my laptop to search for underwater metal detectors and posted on a few forums, as well as contacted IU's underwater science department - but so far no luck. Mr. KO went down to the spot this morning before work to see if maybe it washed up, and he noted that the water is much clearer in the morning so tomorrow morning we will be out there trying again.
Also, it is insured but I would absolutely hate for our policy to go up because of my stupidity. And Mr. KO really said the most amazing thing he could last night "That's not our love at the bottom of the lake, that's just a ring. Everything we need is still right here..." And now I'm crying again.
oh my gosh!! I am SOOOOOO sorry for you! ohmygosh ohmygosh ohmygosh
I hope you get a response from someone with a metal dectector soon
@hellomrsko: I am so, so sorry! What a terrible story. I hope you find it.
This is horrible! But your fiance is right. And what he said is the sweetest thing ever!
@Just_Squeeze: and @CanadianMermaid: We're talking on AIM about it right now and I was hating myself and he was telling me to stop and says "it's nothing spending the rest of my life with you won't take care of".
!!!!!!!!!!
I love this man.
