I’ve am on a business trip to a different town to meet with some people i work closely with. Now one of these people isn’t invited, but gave me a very generous gift. I dont know what to do – i dont receive gifts very well. I’ve thanked him profusely, but i feel the gift is too much!

@MrsDinosaur: Just accept and send a nice thank you card. My boss did the same – he was not invited to the wedding but the day before I left for the wedding honeymoon he left a card with a very generous check on my desk.

@MrsDinosaur: I think you thank them and give them a very nice hand written card. Because you work with them they are clearly trying to be nice. I don’t think you should feel that you have to invite them just because they gave you a gift.

@MrsDinosaur: Be grateful and send a card. My coworkers could care less about me getting married so you are lucky!

@MrsDinosaur: I agree with the other posters! Write a decent length in terms of thank you notes and that should cover it. You could also consider a heartfelt in person thank you if you wanted to do more. People that give generous gifts generally just enjoy doing so, and love it when you really like the gift. 🙂

Send them a nice thank you. I didn’t know it required anything more than that.

Seems simple enough to me- write a lovely thank you note.
