I booked a fabulous venue for a beyond amazing price! A very historical bed and breakfast with space for the amazing outdoor wedding I’ve always dreamed of since childhood. The best part? I just payed $2,700 just about everything! The package includes a full meal (bbq and all the trimmings), flowers– all be it they aren’t the greatest but I’m going to deal, an AMAZING cake– the owner is a french pastry chef, waitstaff and bartender, a four hour reception, decorations of my choosing and some other things… the best part? A FABULOUSLY gay wedding planner! I can already tell we are going to do great things together =) oh oh and he is new so he quoted me $2 per person for unlimited wine and beer for the four hour reception… Don’t think it is the right price but you better believe I’m holding them to it!
I am so excited! I had a very modest $5,000 budget but it is all coming together… and to think I only had three months to plan my wedding and now it is practically planning itself. I feel relieved because I can buy my bridesmaids dresses and still have plenty of money left over for a steller photographer (in my opinion the most important thing), DJ, lighting, invitations and a few minor details. The only thing I’m worried about is the $600 charge for the dance floor. Not looking forward to shelling out that kinda doah for a floor :/
All I can say is God was smiling down on me… still have no clue how I got so lucky! It has rave reviews from brides who have done weddings in the past so I’m not too worried about the wedding turning out terrible!

Congratulations! I am one of those people who gets a contact high about fantastic bargains and this is a doozy…it sounds like Father of the Bride at 10% of the budget (which, to my way of thinking…is way more fun!). LOVE the planner and his $2 bar…he deserves an awesome tip when you’re through. Hope you got everything in writing. Totally agree with you about the floor, but hey, look at it as $3,300 for the whole thing and you’ll have a great time. Can I just say, too, that I think it is wonderful that you are buying your bridesmaids’ dresses? I am trying to do the same on a tight budget because I think its important…so pray for a similar deal for me on flowers and invites, please!
Already got a $500 photographer for engagement shoot, pre wedding consultation, two photographers for 12 hours day of the wedding, unlimited shooting, and the rights to our photos so we can do the printing ourselves on the cheap. Oh, and free web hosting of our pics…I was running around telling complete strangers when we signed that contract, I was so excited. Happy planning and may many more bargains come your way!

Thanks I’m really glad someone else can share my enthusiasm! lol.. I hope you can get some more great bargains as well… it just feels so much better than paying an insane amount! I feel like the whole time this wedding has been coming together on amazing deals… just an example:
engagement ring: $3,200 originally- paid $1,000 as it was discontinued and they were trying to unload it
Wedding dress: $2,000 pronovias gown purchased as a sample- paid $600
and now the venue! I can’t wait to hopefully stumble upon more amazing deals!
A cake that she made for a past bride
and an example of the outdoor ceremony area all dressed up
Omg just looking at the pictures gets me excited all over again!!!!!

Holy crap. I need to move out to NC so you can teach me how to get such great deals on such freaking awesome things. My jaw dropped when I saw all of the pictures and the prices you paid. Wow!!! Congrats (I’m officially jealous!). 😉

@ lindsay8… I live in NC but the wedding is in the Houston area near my family home. It pays to do internet research! Now is the time to negotiate because places such as the venue I picked are hurting for money. Good luck and I hope you can find something as amazing and affordable as what I found =)
@rlsulll: Thanks! I feel the same way… never been a huge believer in fate but this is really changing my perspective of the whole theory!

@fitzly: I need to find me a $500 photographer too. I saw an ad at my local Craigslist recently so I will need to make that phone call first thing on Tuesday morning. Wish me luck!
