Oh my God. I came home from work at about 8:30 and see my dad going out on his bicycle with a flashlight in his hand. My mom emerged a few seconds later, and told me that my dog was MISSING! I didn’t even think, get my cell phone or keys, I just grabbed a flashlight and started running down the street, calling her name and sobbing. As every pet parent knows, she’s my baby, and I was crazy.
I was so scared, because she has congenital heart disease, fluid in her lungs, and a skin condition. She’s over 10 yrs old and takes 3 different medications every day and night. I didn’t know if she was lost, someone took her, or a wild animal got her. I asked every person I came to (in tears) if they saw her. I was ready to come on the bee with sad news.
I went back home, and my mom found her under the couch recliner! She had gotten under there when my mom wasn’t looking and she kicked the seat back without knowing she was there. Luckily, she wasn’t hurt. I couldn’t believe she didn’t bark or cry under there! All in all, she was only “missing” for 15 minutes, but it felt like hours.
Needless to say, I am so relieved, but I seriously aged about 10 years. I expect to see new white hairs tomorrow morning. I’m now going to go eat a pint of ice cream.

AWE! Thats funny she was under the chair! We had a lab that had gotten out one time and we looked around for HOURS for him. He was black and of course at night we couldnt see him. He was about 13 and almost blind and deaf, so I could only imagine what horrible things could have happened. I ended up driving my car through my parents yard to shine my lights on my neighbors barn, sure enough he was just back there peeing on things. But I grabbed him and just started sobbing. He ended up getting out again on Thanksgiving and was hit by a car. 🙁 It was a horrible thing to find, so I am so happy for you that your baby was safe and sound inside your home!! 🙂

Aw, thanks everyone. I’m glad I could share a happy ending. The funniest thing is, we’re all still a little freaked out by it, but my dog is prancing around all fine and dandy, like nothing happened! Little bugger. 😉

Oh what a story! We love our babies. So glad she was inside the whole time.
This reminds me of when I was a kid and my mom was yelling at me and my chihuahua hated the yelling and went “missing” too. We thought she got out but turned out she was hiding in the opening under the sink in the laundry room. That was the one and only time she ever went there.

@minipenguin: Hahaha me too!!
@everyheart: I’m a mum of 6 fur babies, 2 dogs, 2 cats and 2 bunnies and I felt your pain reading that! I did something similar today with our newest fur baby (8 week old female husky, all white). I let her out the back yard today with our Lab and quickly went to the loo,which is right near the back door,the when I called for her she didn’t come and I freaked and started running around the yard… The little bugger was behind a shed! I still do this with my two grown cats when they decide to find Narnia in my wardrobe and I don’t realise I’ve left it open.. Im glad your sweetie is ok! And I hope you enjoyed your ice cream 😉

@everyheart: My puppy tries to go under the couch all the time. He doesn’t fit anymore because he’s gotten so big, but it doesn’t stop him from trying. He always looks up at me very confused about why he can no longer go to his favourite spot, lol.
I am so glad your furbaby is okay. I would have been having a heart attack. My furbaby is my son 🙂

Oh my goodness, how scary! This happened one night when our three dogs got out of the backyard. I was freaking out, running around like a crazy woman! We finally went back to the house because we had been out so long and knew we wouldn’t find them that late at night. They were just sitting by our back door looking at us like we were crazy.
So glad you found your pup!
