Wow. I’m nere here but I read your post and I wanted to comment.

I’m sorry to hear this. It sounds intense. It must be really hard to wait while someone else gets their act together.

I hope something happens very soon to make her move faster.

That really does suck! What an unfortunate situation.

But hey, you have a ring! And most importantly a guy I assume is pretty good. You have to wait, but it will be so sweet once it is over with and you can be official and celebrate.

@Miss Leopard:  I’m sure knowing it’s right there is torture!

I’m a little confused why you can’t be engaged though?

@Natalieh86:  I can’t speak for OP, but I certainly wouldn’t get engaged to a man who’s still married.

Forgive my igorance but to me an engagement isn’t a ‘legal union’ so I don’t understand why you can’t be engaged before the divorce settles. Maybe someone can correct me if I’m wrong.

Oh honey, that sucks! I don’t understand why you can’t wear the ring though. Especially if there is no chance of running into soon to be ex. And even if you do run into her, maybe that will be a reality check to her that her marriage is over.

Pray for patience!

Thanks for explaining that it’s your personal preference to wait. That makes a lot of sense and a respectable way to go about the whole thing.

Kudos to you for waiting! Ahhhh that must be so tough I can’t imagine!

@Miss Leopard:  What a b**ch! That seriously sucks. I’m waiting for my ring too. It sucks.

I hope you he figures the divorce thing out soon! But I think you can still be engaged since they are separated so -in my opinion- go ahead and wear the ring 😉

@Miss Leopard:  Oh okay I gotcha. At first I was thinking you meant you couldn’t legally do it. I understand now.

Agree. This does truly suck, but it’s good to have the camaraderie here so we can make each other feel less alone.

My engagement has been very stressful due to my fiance’s continued unemployment. I also had family very strongly affected by Hurricane Sandy, which has further disrupted things. The air in my life got so thick that my head feels like it is full of cotton. This is a different situation than yours obviously, but I am sharing it in the hope that we can feel less alone when our engagements are made and endure under less than fairy-tale like circumstances.

You don’t sound whiny in the least. This is an incredibly frustrating situation, and you are understandably upset. I really commend you for your reasons on waiting to be officially engaged. Hang in there, honey. It will get better!
