You should be very happy. I too struggled with how much my ring cost. But he told me I was worth it and I wear it proudly.

@Beeyoutifully Me:  Don’t look at your account and feel sad. Think of your ring as a savings account too. You just exchanged cash for an asset that will not be affected by depreciation like electronics – your net worth stays the same …. (Can you tell i take account classes LOL)

Just be happy that he did this on his own and wants you two to be commited 🙂

@Beeyoutifully Me:  Aw you should be jumping for joy right now! Stop being silly! I’m like that to tho. I need money in our savings account at ALL times or else I’m always afraid something is going to happen! SO took our only bank card and hasn’t given it back so I have no idea how much is in there ( I believe he bought the ring with that money).

Don’t worry about it! Your going to be marrying the man you love! Cheer up! Go do a happy dance!!

If you’re not in jeopardy financially (putting off bills to pay for a luxury item) don’t worry about it. Yes it’s expensive. But you’ll be wearing it forever! Forever is a long time compared to having to build up savings for a few extra months.

My SO told me that the ring he bought me was way more then we agreed on. I thought he was going to spend 3000$ max but this guys decided to spend somewhere between 5 and 10! My jaw dropped, but it’s just how they are and wow does it ever make me feel special!

@Beeyoutifully Me:  I totally get where you’re coming from. But with a little bit of frugality over the next few months, you guys will get back to where you started. and as hikerchick said, you’ll wear it proudly once you get it. i never imagined having a ring that was more than about $600 but once we did research, we found a ring that we both love that is 2.5x that price. it took a little while for me to get used to that idea (and him too, we’re not exactly rolling in it), but now i think we’re both very happy with it and i know i’ll wear it for the rest of my life.

P.S. I’ve been with my SO for 7 years too!!

I know how you feel.  My stomach hurts every time I see money leaving the account. .. for any reason!

but like you said, you’ll have it built up again very soon.
