My SO and I have a mortgage together so are financially completely joined. Usual procedure for us is to keep a small amount if spending money each time we get paid and then put all the remainder in our mortgage offset account.
My SO gets paid on the 15th of the month so should have been paid a few days ago. he hasn’t put any money into the mortgage yet (usually does it the same day).
i know I’m crazy, but there’s more than just a little of me that’s thinking ‘maybes he’s keeping it to make a big (ring shaped) purchase?’. I’m actually expecting to wait 6-12 months minimum (and although I have no hesitations, I’m ok with that). So yes, I’m crazy.
If my crazy thoughts hadn’t come along, I would totally just ask, but what if I’m right and he just thinks I won’t notice? I’m an excel geek and have a fairly detailed spreadsheet of this stuff, how could I not notice!?!

@Contented_J: Give it a few more pay checks. Then maybe ask him what’s going on? He’ll either give you a valid reason or it’ll be fun to watch him scramble for one. At any point past or future in your relationship that he didn’t keep up his end with a financial deal y’all have you would ask. Why act different now?

@Contented_J: Ooh could be!
I thought I was going crazy noticing little tiny things and it seemed like I was reading too much into things but it turns out I was right and I’m pretty sure a proposal will be coming at the end of the year. 🙂

I would just casually ask him if he forgot to deposit the money, see what his reaction/reason is. Good luck and let us know how it goes!!

@babytoes: Great idea, here. Look out for his reaction when you ask him about the deposit.

Duh doh. Thanks for the support bees, but before I asked, he’d transferred it last night.
