I agree. Do you know the reasoning behind why we don’t? I know offbeat bride does and it works pretty darn well!

A chat room would be awesome!!  I do vote that it would have to be designed so that workplaces wouldn’t block it though.

Offbeatbride is hosted by ning networks which have a built in [pre-coded] chat feature.

Wedding bee was built from the ground up, so the amount of time/energy/money it would take to create a workable chat feature would be phenomenal.

Ning chat gets glitchy due to over-use (depending on which ning network it is) and the ease of use/speed/realtime features are based on server availability. I’m not sure how many servers WB has, or how much it costs to house them, but it is expensive, even more expensive to expand your server networks. Which is prob why they haven’t implemented.

the TOS/TOU probably restrict the viability of a chat feature as well, as they would likely extend the TOS/TOU to the chat feature and policing in something as face paced as a real time chat would be beyond impossible.

eta: on threads what you write is semi-permanent, and mods/admin can go back to verify what was said and by whom, however in a chat setting, unless someone has taken a screen capture (though those can easily be altered) it would be difficult to know beyond a shadow of a doubt who said what–it would degenerate into a he said she said situation quickly were snark or flame wars to break out that would likely cause more headaches for the mods/admin.

You could start an IRC channel or set up your own free chatroom and just PM that to people you wanted to talk with. Or share IMs and set up a chat day. We used to do that on another website I work at because we didn’t have a built in feature.

I want one too! I miss out on a lot of threads and there are a lot of ladies Id like to talk to more but I hate having to read through an entire thread or hit the reply button or refresh the page then re-read. Its too time consuming!
