Okay, I should probably know this, but I don’t and google isn’t helping. I’m trying to write out a check for our priest, but I’m not sure what to write in the name section. Do I just do first and last, should I put Father First Last? Some other variation?

@Follydust321: You can write “Fr. James O’Malley” or just “James O’Malley”. The bank is not going to care about the title. (This coming from someone who has worked at both a credit union and as a parish secretary!)

If you feel more comfortable adding the title, do it. The important thing as lia mentioned is that his name is written in full – adding a title will not change anything when the bank will process the check.

Thanks guys! I feel more comfortable with the title, I was only worried about the bank! Now, back to writing checks.
