    While I’m not getting married, I would NEVER want my bridesmaids looking bad! I’m the opposite, I would want them to look AMAZING

    Well..all four of my bridesmaids are gorgeous so I don’t think I could make them look “ugly” if I tried.  And I never would..

    No I would not want them to look ugly at all. Now that being said I let them choose their own gowns and I have had people tell me that they thought one of the gowns was not great. This is not me doing this and I would hate for someone to look at my weddings pics and say “oh that bride put her in an ugly gown”, no way she picked that gown herself and she is picking the dated prom hairstyle that I am not a fan of as well, but she thinks it’s beautiful and it makes her feel good so I’m just gonna let it be.

    @breadandbutterflies:  Exactly this.

    They are some of the most important people in my life, why would I want them to feel ugly? Plus, they are all totally unique and beautiful people. Trying to make them look like clones of each other makes no sense.

    No, they’re my friends! I want them to look and feel like the beautiful and special ladies they are.

    Although one of my future bridesmaids told me she loves me so much she’d be willing to rock shoulder pads and a butt bow if I really wanted her to. LOL.

    @serenitea:  I think some bridesmaid dresses are ugly and unflattering because some people just have no taste and are focused on the color (to match the decor) rather than the style

    I’m not having bridesmaids, but if I were, I would want them to feel beautiful, too. No one wants to have a million photos taken of them when they feel ugly. Had I gone the bridesmaids route, I would have probably picked a colour and then let them pick out whatever style of dress they felt good in in that colour. I’d also let them choose their own hair and make-up, unless I had someone who was notorious for doing really outlandish or ugly things with her beauty routine (one of my sisters comes to mind).

    The last thing I want is good friends and family members to feel ugly at my wedding it will translate. I have seen some trainwreck of bridesmaid dresses and I think when the bride does that, it often has the opposite effect as it grabs everyones attention and has them talking about the bridesmaids. I also don’t like the whole constant need to be in “stoplight” it’s a freaking wedding not a hollywood production. I don’t know why so many people see the wedding as a way of getting attention.

    Gosh, no.  They all LOVED their dress (I chose the colour, they chose the style together), they chose their hair and makeup, and shoes.  They all looked gorgeous, and why shouldn’t they!?

    I think picking ugly dresses looks bad on the bride more than the girls wearing them. You would think a bride would want her whole wedding to be beautiful, including her bridesmaids!!

    One problem with making your bridesmaids wear ugly dresses on your day is that when they get married there might be some payback! haha!
