I am letting my BMs do the same thing and I am anxious to see how it all comes together. I agree it is so difficult to have girls of different body types in the same dress - someone will always feel uncomfortable, and I think this concept is a perfect solution!

From left to right....
far left- she got her dress from Macy's (don't know how $$)
next girl - got her dress from Nordstoms on sale for $85
2nd to last girl - got her dress from david's bridal (not sure how $$)
Girl on far right - got her dress on Ebay(new) for $40
They all picked their own jewelry and shoes as well.
p.s. I was planning to buy little hair clips with blue netting (like a mini birdcage veil) for each girl - but I wasn't sure if they would "like" to wear it or not... plus I was trying not to spend any more money. I asked them after the wedding if they would have worn it and they all said "oh Yeah!! We would have loved that!!" Oh well... they still look great!
WOw Im kind of wishing I had gone this route - your girls look GORGEOUS and those are dresses they can definitel wear again!

So, my bridesmaids and I went back and forth forever trying to find something that everyone liked and fit in their budget.
We finally found one... when we went to order it... they had stopped making it... bummer!
Well I then decided that each girl should be able to get whatever she wants (with some restrictions..of course)
I just said that the dress would have to be dark brown and below or at the knee (but not long to the floor) and other then that they could go wild...
I was so impressed at what each girl picked out... it totally fit their personal style and fit their bodies well. Also they spent whatever amount they wanted since they got to pick their own.
Here is how it turned out....
