Hey everyone, I need some advice on a very emotional situation… We just got back from vacation, and while we were there, I lost my engagement ring.
We were swimming in the ocean, and when we came out of the waves, I realised it was gone. I have never felt so upset over losing anything before, obvioisly other than people, and I just dont know where to go from here.
With so much of our extra money being put aside for our wedding, and our daughter, and our new house, there is no way I can justify purchasing another ring upwards of 10k…
My fiance seems to be handling this a lot better I, and I so happy that he isn’t making me feel amy worse than I already do. But, I still feel naked without my ring, and I was wondering if you all had some advice on what I can do.
Has tbis happened to anyone else?
I have seen soooo many gorgeous gemstone rings, and I’m thinking that may be what I do.
I had worked as a jeweler for many years in the past, and as an ex-jeweler, I know that a good quality ruby, emerald, and even sapphire can cost 3-5 times more than a diamond.
I actually have a loose 4ct ruby that I have never set before, and i know it would amazing in the right setting. But, I worry that most people don’t know how much better and more rare certain gems are, and I’d feel awful if anyome thought that my fiance skimped on my ring. I know that sounds bad…
What would you all do? Should I get a smaller diamond engagement ring, or go with my ruby, or even another gem, like a sapphire?
And, if anyone has pics of their gemstone rings, I’d love to see them!
