@VineyardBound:  Aww, I’m sorry! We actually have a few sets of couple friends that lost their wedding bands/engagement rings in the ocean on their honeymoon.  I’d personally just get a CZ stand in that mimicked my ring if need be.

I also vote for the idea of a cz stand in and save your ruby for something else.

Was your ring insured?

@VineyardBound:  does it matter if people dont know what a good quality gemstone is? I am a sapphire girl myself, my husband works at a diamond mine. We get questions ALL THE TIME about why i dont have a diamond ext. Ext. I thin if you choose to rock a gemstone that would be awesome. I am assuming your ring wasnt insured otherwise you’d just go through that avenue to get a new diamond ring. 🙁

and here’s my ring because you asked. xo

@VineyardBound:  for starters, you need to contact your insurance company. You will have some coverage under a renters or homeowners policy, with a deductible, even if the ring wasnt scheduled. Once you know how much would be covered that may impact your decision making going forward.

I’m so sorry you lost your ring. Years ago I lost a very nice piece of jewelry to the Gulf of Mexico and while it certainly wasnt the sentimental equivalent of an engavement ring, I completely understand your heartache!
