So my hubby was a little too ants to give me a kiss on our wedding day and stepped so hard on my big toe. It was a pretty bad first kiss even though the pics didn’t show it I was pulling away as he was pulling me in. LOL OUCH! Well 3.5 weeks after the wedding all of my big toe nail has officially fallen off
Ladies how long does it normally take for a nail to grow back? It looks so nasty and I don’t want to wear sandals without it! Do I need to do anything extra to care for it or increase grow back time?

Ahhh! I hope it heals soon! In the meantime, if you want, you can get an acrylic overlay put on it. (Acrylic nails without the tips.) That will disguise it until it grows out a bit.

Ouchhhhh :(. DH’s fingernail came off after a lot of music equipment fell on it. From what I remember, he kept it wrapped in gauze for weeks/months. But he took it off sometimes so it could air out. It took a few months to grow back & it hurt sometimes, but usually it was ok. He’s out of town right now but when he calls I’ll try to remember to ask him about it. I know he went to the dr for it, so he had professional advice given to him :).

My hubby’s toe nail just fell off too. I don’t know how he hurt it, but it was growing before it fell off. So now it is mostly there. I agree with the PP, I would get an overlay.

It’ll take a few months to completely come back in. Pay attention as it does – if it starts to get ingrown, make sure you go to the doctor – they can help trim it so that it won’t get quite so bad! That happened to my brother.

Pretty good story and I’m sure you’ll love to tell it in a few more years time.
It will grow back, don’t worry. 🙂

I lose a toenail about once or twice a year – thank you, cleats.
In my experience, they start growing back right away – often before the old nail completely falls off. They look a bit thick and weird for 2 or 3 months, and then you’re back to normal.

It will take a few months but whatever you do DO NOT put an acrylic nail or tip on it! When my big toe nail fell off a few years ago the ladies at my nail place talked me into it. Apparently while it was on there some moisture got underneath it & it caused nail fungus :/ yuck!
