I have found the dress that brought the tears! I went into Davids Bridal telling myself I would not spend over $600. That did not happen. I put on the Oleg Cassini CRL277 that had a regular price of $1,050, and was on sale for $850 and bought it! Now alterations are kicking me in the butt! Between hem and bustle and then you have to get the mermaid slip, I am at $265 in alterations and a slip!! Oh, and then the matching veil is $129.00! Too bad for the $600 budget on a dress!!!
Oh and if anyone has the matching veil, please let me know! I will so buy it!! :)
ooohh! that dress is gorgeous! You look beautiful!
All together I'm spending about $900 on my dress including accessories and alterations, but I was lucky and found my BRAND NEW Maggie dress on ebay!
The dress is stunning! However, you may be able to get the alterations done for less money if you go to a private seamstress. Also check etsy and put out an alchemy ad and you may be able to have the veil custom made.
OMG! sooooo worth spending a little extra! that dress looks wonderful on you!!!
I really wish I would have gone the ebay way! I was kinda scared too, but I have heard lately, after I purchased the gown, that people are finding some awesome deals! I have been using ebay a lot for favors, guestbook, flutes, etc. I have saved a lot of money that way! Maybe it will make up for spending so much on the dress!
The dress looks great on you! I would definitely see where else I could get my alterations done, though! And the veil - maybe put an add in the classifieds here, on craigslist, and an etsy alchemy request is never a bad idea!
The dress looks fabulous on you - nice curves! And I know how you feel about the price issue: I was planning on spending only $1000 tops on my dress, and I ended up falling in love with one that is $1500...I sucked it up and did it anyway though!
the dress looks so great on you! i love it! my budget was $1000 and i ended up spending 900 with tax, but haven't done alterations yet :-S (i'm tall so won't be needing a hem, hopefully i can get everything done fairly cheaply...)
My dress budget was $500 and I only went over by $30. I might get it hemmed also but that will be done at an independent tailor so I guess we'll see! I budgetted for accessories & veil separately, I budget $100 for veil but only spent $23. Yay! Just try to cut your budget in other areas if you can.
That dress is gorgeous!
My dress budget was small (500) and I spent 350 of it, but I found my dream dress.
Maybe you can find it on ebay or like the used wedding dress websites..and can you find an independent tailor?
I avoided going over my budget by looking at the price tag before I tried it on. I wasn't going to try something on that was over my budget--even though the sales lady tired. But, I didn't want to go over so I limited it..
that dress is lovely!
i was going to need to hem my dress and take the straps in but alterations were going to be insane due to the hand beading. i ended up ordering the dress in petite to avoid all that and now it fits perfect! the only thing i need is a bustle
That dress is DROP DEAD GORGEOUS ON YOU!!!!!!!
My Budget was that I didn't want to spend more than $1000 - but my dress is $1250 with alterations on top of that!
That seems like a lot for alterations! I would go somewhere else, for sure.
With alterations, my dress cost me about $900.
That dress is beautiful on you! I spent about 850 so far on just the dress with no alterations. I'm a little scared to find out how much it will cost with alterations! But I agree with the other ladies--try to find a private seamstress for alterations, that's what I'm going to try to do and also check out etsy for your veil.
LOVE the dress! Congrats! I'm looking to spend about $3,000 and have budgeted about $300 for alterations but hopefully I'll come in less than that!
Did you buy the slip yet? You can prob get it for less second hand. And run from DB alterations. Find a good local seamstress who can probably do it for less.
That dress looks amazing on you! You defnitely did the right thing buying it. That being said to save some money I would definitely look at other veil options. I'm sure you can find one for much cheaper.
Totally cute dress on you! :) And yes, you can definitely find a veil for a better price... look on etsy or classifieds here and other wedding-related websites. My dress budget was about $2000, but I ended up paying only $800 (I haven't had it altered yet)... so I'm super happy I ended up being so under budget!
Wow! That is a gorgeous dress and you look beautiful!! I ended up spending waaay more than I thought was necessary, around $6K for the dress, alterations and tax. It took me so long to find somehting I liked and was dressy enough for my wedding, when i finally came across it and 'knew', I negotiated the heck out of the store and signed the contract a few days later. It should have been over $7K for everything, so I guess I did a good job..
You look amazing in your gown!!! It really gives you the perfect shape and is well worth the extra $$ because you will look and feel amazing! Your gown reminds me of the gown that Jessica Simpson wore :)
My budget was $1,000 and I got my gown for $765 with free alterations. I am hoping to find a beautiful, cathedral veil which I'm sure will be a little expensive. I'm just happy to be under my budget!
Love the dress on you!!! I budgeted $800 and got my dress at David's Bridal as well....got it on sale, with everything,, including the slip, etc, I spent $678. I am getting the alterations done by a local seamstress, who is also making me a matching bolero for the church, all for $113, including fabric. Got really lucky and she is a family friend! I do, again, have to say, the dress looks GREAT on you, Congrats!
I don't want to spend more than 500 on a dress... we'll see how that goes. :)
you look gorgeous!!! That is the perfect dress for you - congrats!
That dress looks lovely on you!
My dress was a little over $6k. It comes in in December (!!!), fittings start in March/April, and we'll see what those alterations costs will be.
WOW that dress looks FABULOUS on you! I tried it too, but for some reason it looked AWFUL on me. ;) Glad to see that I'm not crazy and it is a gorgeous dress (just... on someone else)!
You know, you may have overspent, but I don't think you'll begrudge the money a few years down the line. It's really, really great on you. :)
I? Spent $950 on mine. Plus $75 for 3" extra length. Plus $100 to cut off 1-1/2" extra length ;). Plus whatever the rest of the alterations cost. But it's normally a $1,200 dress, so I guess it's not that bad? Ha.
you look beautiful in your dress!
i'm planning to spend at most $1000. i tried on a dress the other week that was on sale for $1100...but i'm going to keep looking to see other options!
The dress is beautiful on you! You did the right thing. I am spending $750 on the dress and I think alterations will be $150 or less. I'm taking it to a private seamstress.
My budget was $5,000 and I was going to buy the Kenneth Pool Degas dress until I found a brand new, neverworn $8,000 Kenneth Pool on Ebay for $1200 by a girl whose wedding was cancelled. It was still in the box from the designer and had the original receipt and tags on it. YAY!!
What size mermaid slip do you need. I have theirs in a size four and you can have it if you want. my email is kateoats@gmail.com

I already bought it in a 2. I should have sooo searched for one on the net first! I greatly appreciate the offer. That is so nice of you!
You look gorgeous and very happy in your dress so it was WORTH the extra money!!
I was hoping not to go over $2,000 and I didn't even want to spend that much, but when I tried on my Jim Hjelm dress I had to have it!! I got it for $2500 and thats with a trunk show discount!!
but you look absolutely stunning - in this instance, I'd say it's worth the budget shuffle. He's going to fall over himself when he sees you.
look at your curves - you are INCREDIBLY GORGEOUS!!!!!!!
I actually bought an oleg cassini as well - CMB321. in ivory. we paid full price as - when I went in to try on dresses, it was brand new and had only been in the shop for a few days...but TOTALLY worth it! :D
(although I might sell it after the wedding)
I got my dress at 90% off. It was originally $800, I got it for $80 because the store was going out of business. My budget had been about $1000. The rest of the wedding has been VERY expensive so I'm glad we were able to save this bit.
I budgeted $3k for the dress and alterations and found THE dress for $1800 plus around $300 for alterations! I'm doing a feathered comb instead of a veil, but only budgeted $150 for that and found one I LOVE for $350...so I'm glad I'm a little under on the dress.
hellohellohello: That is really impressive!! You go girl, only if that happened for me!!
You look amazing in that dress!
My dress was $775, with free alterations.
