Ok, I took the jump. I am a second time bride and though I don’t think it at all makes it less important, I knew that I didn’t want to do the whole bridal shop mega-dress thing–(of course, for those of you who do, more power to you.) I have a really long waist and most of the things didn’t look all that fabulous on me anyway. I did try a few on to find a silhouette, and then I decided to risk the Internet. And yes, I bought a dress I had only seen in a picture. Some said brave, others fool hardy, but today, the final judgement–I got it, and I just have to brag–It is absolutely perfect. Seriously, more beautiful than any other I have ever put on. I just tried it on without a crinoline or anything, and it was made for my figure–I did send custom measurements. I will post pics of me in it as soon as I have portraits made. In the mean time, this is what I ordered:
The quality is absolutely amazing. This dress is better made than any I have put on in a store. The beading is intricate and professional. When on, it actually makes the dress look windswept. The corset top is a real corset top capable of smoothing any “Yeah I said I was going to lose five pooch”. The satin is of such high quality that I tried it on with black strapless undergarments–ok, I know but I couln’t find my nude bra–and you couldn’t see even a shadow. They included a zip side, ruched off the shoulder bodice cover/jacket, and a shawl. Did I say it fit like someone tailored it just for me? The price was comparable or cheaper than David’s Bridal and the quality is rack couture or better.
I do want to warn you though. Initially, I had them design a dress from a picture. It was ok, but what I realized is that it will never look like the picture exactly. You ought to pick something from their models–they actually have those patterns on hand and they cut them out. Pick based on what you have liked on your body, but not with a solid real dress in mind of course. At first, it took longer than I had expected too. The design process started just before their New Year–which is a 14 day holiday. So check a calendar and plan ahead–they did let me switch to a stock dress though on my suggestion and it was finished and delivered in 30 days.
So I know this isn’t for everyone, but if you think it might be for you, I hope my experience encourages you.

Probably by Friday I will have some pics. It needs a crinoline to look exactly right, and it was just me and mom fending off dogs, the lighting wasn’t great or fixable immediately etc. I am glad I chaned from a custom to a patterned dress though. It seems like that has been a lot of people’s problems–not that getting what you want should be a “problem”.

Ok, I promised pictures. Please forgive the slouching, I am about to pick up my niece who is trying to stomp my “princess dress”. I don’t mind because she is my favorite 🙂 and only niece. You can see the beading, which is nice. The only think I wasn’t so thrilled with was the way the top lays, I thought it would be more flouncy. I think it can be achieved with proper undergarmnets, which I should add are not present–I need a corset and a slim a-line slip, but on the other hand, it might be comforting to know I am wearing a black strapless bra that does not show through in the least. The back picture I think shows it best. I wish you could see that down every wispy peice, there is beading on each side, and I should have taken a picture of the inside. It is very well made, lined like their pictures and totally worth every penny I paid.

Thank you for posting a picture! I also bought the same EXACT dress from them! I ordered the dress in June and it’s in transit to be sent to me now so, basically a month. The bad part about Milly is that they did not even send a pic so I can at least see how my dress looks. This makes me VERY nervous. I mean…who makes a dress for you but does not allow you to see the work that has been done….huh???? Anyway, I called DHL today and they have advised that I should rev my package no later than THUR. I will follow up to let you guys know of the out come. I’m just praying that the dress looks good. SN: I haven’t even gone out to any bridal boutique to try on dresses because I’ve been losing weight plus I’ve procrastinated. I’m not even sure how the dress will look on me. I’m praying about this one.
back to the topic: you look fab in our dress! The only thing that catches my eye (and please do not take this the wrong way) is that the dress needs to be a little more fitted in your lower stomach area. Other than that you look great!
