My husband has been really wonderful lately. Super helpful around the house and with the baby. On Friday, I wanted to do something nice for him, so I told him that I would cook him anything he wanted for dinner.
Cue Friday morning, and I just didn’t feel like cooking. I hate cooking (he’s the best cook and loves doing it). So I had a brilliant idea! I’d get my mom to babysit and I’d offer to meet him at his favorite restaurant. No cooking for me, no baby to get in the way of an enjoyable dinner, no traffic for him (restaurant is closer to his work so he would avoid fighting Friday rush hour traffic to get home in time for the dinner I cooked).
Let me tell you girls, it’s as if I bought him a sports car. He has thanked me a million times for surprising him with that dinner on Friday. Everyone he’s talked to all weekend heard about how happy it made him. He was in the best mood all weekend (sometimes he gets pretty grumpy after sitting in traffic all week, and it takes him a bit of time to wind down).
I can’t believe that this little gesture (which in all honestly I did because I was lazy more than anything) meant so much to him. I encourage you to think of something small you can do to make your husband happy. It will pay you back in spades!!
