I think you did a wonderful job :-)
I also made my own veil. You can see a teaser picture of it here.
Very pretty, really great DIY :) It's hard to tell from the photo, is your veil 2 tiers or 1 tier of lace?
@Lily of theValley Your veil is so beautiful! I can't believe you made it--you're so talented!
@noritake22 Your veil is also gorgeous! I actually envision wearing a veil like this for my wedding, and I'd love to hear how you made it! Lace veils are so expensive, and I'm sure it would be much cheaper (and potentially fun!) to make it myself.
OMG soooo pretty! I am so jealous- I wish I had the patience and the talent to create something like that. Great job!
@pink.sequins:It is two tiers. I basically took a big piece of lace and cut it, not quite in half, for the two tiers.
Thanks for all the wonderful comments girls!
It's really pretty! Sparkles and lace = AWESOME! You did a great job. Novice? Hardly!
That's gorgeous! I love it! This gives me hope that I can make my own veil! :o)
The lace is beautiful!! Do you have any pictures of you wearing it!! Or with your dress??
@MsFoxxy:It was pretty easy. Seriously took me max 2 hours by hand. Don't hesitate to PM me if you want to know more about how I constructed it.
Again, thanks for the comments, bees!!
Cincity: i don't have my dress yet. I hope it matches well enough. I don't have any photos of me wearing it because I'm wearing sweats and have messy messy hair right now, but maybe I'll post something when I have my dress (which won't be for a long time yet).
I made mine out of the same lace, I did my diffrently but good job!!! Love it
So I do not know why it will not load the correct way sorry it is sideways, This is the only picture i have of it curantly
Oh! I really like how you did yours! Did you attach the comb at the simpler edge?
Yes, The beading is at the bottom. I Just ran a stitch trough the top edge then gathered it (This was more time consuming that expected but I love it). We then just attached it to the comb.
WOW these are fantastic!
I almost wish I used lace instead of tulle.
How much was the lace?
@becauseilovehim: Gorgeous work!
@Lily of theValley: How long is your veil?
You did a great job! I love it :) I wish I thought to make my own before buying mine... but I love mine!
@ellabee: Thanks! I believe the lace is marked at $25/yard and i used 2 yards, but I had a 40% off coupon.
The veil is about forearm/wrist length depending on where it's placed on my head.
What does yours look like?

Hey guys I was thinking the other day about getting my veil, (and lamenting about spending more money) and struck me that it might not be too hard to make.
I had remembered some really lovely lace that I always look at when I go to JoAnn Fabrics. So I thought, hey what the heck? I'll give it a try and if it doesn't turn out I won't be out too much.
So I went and bought a wire comb, the kind you see attached to veils, and I bought 2 yards of my lace. After reading a quick "how to" page on the web I was off!
Here are the results:
Keeo in mind I'm very novice at sewing, but I think it turned out well! Has anyone else made their own veil?
