I had my glucose tolerance test yesterday at 21w5d (they did it early because of the twins). My experience was pretty awful. I was really shaky and felt like I was going to throw up after drinking the sugar drink. The midwives told me to eat normally before the test, but stupidly I chose Cinnamon Toast Crunch to eat because I wasn’t thinking that early in the morning.
The midwife said that based on my reaction, there’s a possibility that I failed the test… but I’m holding out hope that they might let me repeat it since I made a stupid choice with the CTT cereal beforehand.
I guess I find out tomorrow for sure!
Did anyone else fail their 1 hr glucose test and end up without GD?

Quite a few people have and someone else just posted about this the other day.
And GD isn;t the end of the world…lol. I had it durning my last pregnancy and it ws able to be controlled by pills not insulin.

@StormyRose: Thanks! I’ve been off the boards for a bit, so I must have missed it! I know that GD is managable… I just didn’t expect to have it since I normally eat healthy! (Except cereal lol – I don’t like/can’t have eggs because I get reflux from them. I’ll have to search for that other thread.

ive heard of alot of people having that reaction after drinking the drink and they all passed! i wouldnt worry to much about GD until you get your test results back and you know for sure. i ate a poptart before the test ( i know smart and healthy choice) and passed, so you very easily could too!

I don’t go for mine until the end of May…not looking forward to it, though! I’ve been eating lots of sweets lately. Not sure if that effects the results in the long run, but I’m going to be sure to be very healthy the day of the test! Good luck with the results.

The time I ever got sick during pregnancy was after my first test. It was the orange drink and 30 minutes later I threw it all up. I went right back and told them and they said “oh, it could have just been the flavor, we have one that tastes like sprite, try this one”. What! Why wasn’t this an option in the first place? I drank the sprite flavored one and was fine…..

Awww, I’m sorry shimmer! I hope it all turns out ok.
Speaking just from the best place possible, I would ditch that CTC. Get it out of your house. 🙂 Try oatmail, either the instant stuff, or better yet, the plain stuff. I cook it with milk in the microwave and then add cinnamon and banana and just a little brown sugar. Delicious and filling, and more nutrients.
