I get where you're coming from! FI got my ring from a jeweler near my office, so I was able to take it to be sized while I was at work... and since they make their own jewelry, they had it done that day. The entire day I kept freaking out, thinking I lost it when I'd look down...
not having it definitely stinks, but at least it'll be snug on your finger in a week!
I waited 3 months before getting it sized and it's currently at the jeweler. It's sad... BUT, I keep thinking how exciting it will be to get it back :)
Aw lucky! I could've taken it to a jeweler that does it on the same day, but since he purchased the ring from Zales, if I was to have it sized some other place, it would violate the warranty and stuff. So I was forced to give it up for a little while :(

I can totally relate! I'm getting my ring design completely changed... and I had to give back my original ring to my FI.
I'm going to be "naked" until he gets here in December. Ahhhh! I feel so exposed lol. Seriously... I didn't think I'd miss it that much, but I'm going insane without it.

No you're not pathetic! I totally felt the same way when I had to get mine resized and was without it for 3 weeks. Just imagine how nice it'll be to have a proper fitting ring.

when I took my ring to get sized, I didn't realize it would take so long, so decided to not do it that day (was showing my whole family in just a few days), so they said they would put a temporary sizer on it. A horrible, horrible woman grabbed my ring out of my hands, took a pair of pliars to my 2 week old perfect ring and scratched the hell out of it. I cried. All night. Didn't go to work in the morning, went straight to another jeweler who had to talk me off the ledge explaining that it would all come out when it was sized and that nothing can really, really scratch platnium like that. I realize its a small, small thing, but I was heartbroken thinking I had ruined my ring. Needless to say, looked better than new when I got it back from the (DIFFERENT!) jeweler from being sized!
RecessionistaBride - I would go crazy to be without my ring until December!!! But I'm sure it'll be beautiful when it comes back :)
Catlady - Yes! My finger feels completely naked. I keep looking down at it and wanna cry. I am using my promise ring as a replacement just because I couldn't take it anymore haha!
KiKiD - OMG!! I would have been so mad at first until I realized that it would go away. I literally almost cried when I handed it over to her. I left and told her "please don't lose it or let anything happen to it" haha! I just don't feel engaged, even though I know I still am. It's crazy how much that ring means to me! & the promise behind it of course :)
My ring only took a few hours to be sized, but I missed it. And I didn't even have it a week when it was sized.
Lots of have been there. Don't worry about being silly.
I remember having to wait 4-5 days for mine to be resized and it was torture! Better to have it fit right and be without for a few days then to lose it I suppose.
Awww - ((hugs)) doll. I can't imagine the torture, although I may have to! I need to have my ring sized down (probably a whole size) and I am dreading having to give it back - even for 5 minutes!
@nurselindsey: Oh it is sucky! I actually don't know what my new design will look like.... lol I know its going to be worth the torture though :) My FI has really good taste. Had he just picked what he wanted to pick for my e-ring instead of the design I picked he would have saved a lot of money... lol he knows me better than I know myself.
OH man that sucks! I was engaged the same day as you (yay!) and I would miss my ring so much if I had to give it up!!

O no! I miss my ring too! But that is probably because I picked it out 7 months ago and am still waiting for it......
I'm just wearing my ring big. Everyone keeps asking me when I'm going to get it sized and I can't really wait to part with it. I'm waiting until our engagement party this weekend and then I think I'll finally bite the bullet and part with it for a little bit.
Being without your ring is no fun. The jeweler told my Fi that the ring should only be sized once, so he didn't have it done prior. I kept the ring for two weeks (I had to show it off!) and then brought it to be sized. It took three weeks to get it back - which seemed like forever at the time.
OctoberBee - That's what I did, I wanted to show it off so I wore it around with a plastic ring sizer for a little bit. But I started getting nervous with it at work since I'm a nurse and I use my hands so much, I was terrified. It'll be so nice to finally have it fit and not be terrified of losing it every second of the day!
I feel naked when my ring is not on my finger. :( I had to get mine sized a few weeks ago and it was gone for a week! I was sad the whole time.

I took my ring to get sized yesterday and it's going to take about a week to get back and I'm already sad :( Is it strange to be attached to the ring already when I've only been engaged 2 weeks? I think it's just because I waited SO long to finally get it, and then I had to hand it over for a week lol. Silly fiance, he should've sized it before he gave it to me and I wouldn't have to go through this! But boys just don't think sometimes. Oh well, I just needed to vent, without my ring I don't feel engaged and it makes me sad. I'm pathetic!! Haha
